'Clerks' star signs up for slasher film

Clerks star Jason Mewes has signed to appear in forthcoming slasher film Silent But Deadly.
The actor is best known for playing Kevin Smith's sidekick Jay in 1994's Clerks, as well as sequels Mallrats and Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back.
Mewes previously ventured into the horror genre in in David Arquette's 2007 slasher movie The Tripper and Dimension Films' 2006 offering Feast.
Silent But Deadly is scheduled to begin filming in Ontario, Canada in August.
