I think that it’s well known around these parts that I’m a big supporter of Mel Gibson (let’s not get into his views, the guy is a movie star), and that I love Richard Donner’s movies. I also love the work of Shane Black - that guy knew how to pen a witty action movie. If you don’t know, check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Last Boy Scout.
And now news has come in that Shane Black, writer of the original Lethal Weapon film, has apparently penned a fifth installment of the action series. Allegedly he has shown the script to producer Joel Silver (Speed Racer) and both Danny Glover and Mad Mel are interested in returning to their signature roles!
Acoording to Tracking B.com (via Comingsoon) :
“Riggs (Gibson) is about to retire, but pulls Murtaugh (Glover) out of retirement to solve one final case, before they both officially head off into the sunset.”

This is great news - but is it really going to happen?

    there is always room for more sequals as long as they are well thought and well executed. Mel and Glover Rock and i think they shouldnt stop making this great series.

    Lethal Weapon 4 was the final straw. Riggs finally became of father, and started his own family. Murtaugh became a grandfather and had enough family on his plate. Does this mean Chris Rock and Joe Pessi will return as well??? What about Rena Ruso?
    The last movie was not as great as the first three, and I believe that a new directer could either follow up the movie very nicely, or could make it even worse.

    As much as I am a Lethal Weapon fan, I can not say at this time I am looking forward to this 5th movie.

    The Lethal Weapon series ended with 4 (the photo album during the end credits said it all!), but the thing started with Black and Donnor, so I guess its only right to have it end with them. I don't know. If it means Riggs or Murtaugh, or both dying , I'll be sad!
