Seven clips from the upcoming Greg Kinnear movie "Flash of Genius" have been released, showing one man's attempt at inventing something useful, only to see it stolen from him by a giant corporation. I had the chance to see this film at the Toronto Film Festival; The fact that the main character's problem is so relatable and that he's the ultimate underdog, made this movie a nail-biter for me.
The plot revolves around Robert (Kinnear), who invents a device that would eventually be used by every car in the world, the Kearns think they have struck gold. But their aspirations are dashed after the auto giants who embraced Robert's creation unceremoniously shunned the man who invented it. Ignored, threatened and then buried in years of litigation, Robert is haunted by what was done to his family and their future. He becomes a man obsessed with justice and the conviction that his life's work-or for that matter, anyone's work-be acknowledged by those who stood to benefit. And while paying the toll for refusing to compromise his dignity, this everyday David will try the unthinkable: to bring Goliath to his knees. Check out the trailer for more on this movie.
"Flash of Genius" is helmed by Marc Abraham, who is making his directorial debut. It is scheduled to hit theaters on October 3rd.
