Now that "Harry Potter 6" won't be released until next summer, most other kid-friendly fantasy films are fighting to appear in theaters. One of these is "Inkheart," for which New Line Cinema has just sent us the official poster. It features a shot of Brendan Fraser holding a book, which contains many characters that will come to life. The tagline states: "Every story ever written is just waiting to become real."
"Inkheart" revolves around a girl whose father has the power to bring characters from books to life by reading aloud. When a villainous ruler and his band of rogues from a children's fable kidnap the man, his daughter and her friends, both real and imaginary, must rescue him.
Playwright David Lindsay-Abaire penned the bigscreen adaptation of German author Cornelia Funke's fantasy novel, the first of a trilogy. "Inkspell" was published last fall, and "Inkdawn" will be out next year. For now, the new movie is scheduled to hit theaters on January 9th, 2009.
