One of the hot button issues in this year’s presidential election will no doubt be the issue of privatized vs. universal healthcare. In his latest documentary, Critical Condition, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Roger Weisberg (Sound and Fury) introduces audiences to four American citizens suffering from debilitating ailments that, despite living in a country that spends 50% more on healthcare than any other, cannot get treatment due to lack of health insurance. While following these subjects around over the course of four years, Weisberg sheds light on a poorly managed nationwide healthcare dilemma that doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
Mike Raffensperger sat down to talk to Roger when his film played at this year’s Human Rights International Film Festival where Roger revealed what’s wrong with the healthcare system and his thoughts on how to fix it.
