John Travolta Will Not Return for "Hairspray 2"

Speaking to The Sunday Herald Sun [via Moviehole], John Travolta revealed that he won't return for the recently announced "Hairspray 2," because he's not big on sequels. "I think once is enough," Travolta said of playing Edna Turnblad. "I did it and I did it well but I'm not a big sequel guy."

Let's see how New Line Cinema (Warner Bros) deals with this, since the studio is planning to focus the second installment once again on the Turnblad family.

The original "Hairspray" grossed more than $200 million worldwide and served up a strong-selling DVD and soundtrack album. At this point, "Hairspray" creator John Waters is writing a treatment for the sequel, which is tentatively set to appear in theaters mid-July 2010.
