"Smokin' Aces" Prequel Gets Greenlit

About two weeks ago, director Joe Carnahan wanted to put an end to his official blog, but fans made him keep it going. That's good, because we now know that the "Smokin' Aces" prequel has finally been greenlit.
"Finally, some actual 'Smokin Aces' news," Carnahan wrote on his blog. "Universal has officially greenlit the prequel and we are underway. Cameos will abound. Trust me."
Almost exactly a year ago, Carnahan stated the the prequel was moving forward due to a great script. The name of the new straight-to-DVD film would be "Smokin' Aces: Blowback" and the director mentioned that he would look for ways to bring back the regulars from the first film for some cameos. Apparently he accomplished that.
