Olga Kurylenko, a Ukrainian model who stars as a Bolivian agent in new Bond film Quantum of Solace, is a traitor who has betrayed her roots, the Communist Party in St Petersburg says.
In a letter posted on the party's website, Kurylenko was slammed for starring in a movie in which "hundreds of Soviet people" were killed.
"In the name of all communists we appeal to you, prodigal daughter of poor Ukraine and deserter of Slavic world," the letter said.
"The Soviet Union gave you free education, free medical care, but nobody knew you would commit an act of intellectual and moral betrayal that you would become a movie kept girl of Bond, who in his movies kills hundreds of Soviet people and citizens of other socialist countries: Cubans, Vietnamese, North Koreans, Chinese and Nicaraguans."
News agency Associated Press quoted party spokesman Sergei Malenkovich as saying Quantum of Solace was "an insult for Russians".
The party also criticised Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for undermining communist ideology and distorting history, AP reported.
Quantum of Solace is released in New Zealand on November 27.
