A brand new poster for the upcoming "The Spirit" film has appeared online, featuring the title character walking through a city that has other characters on the billboards around him.

The movie stars Gabriel Macht as a former rookie cop who returns mysteriously from the dead to fight crime from the shadows of Central City. Samuel L. Jackson stars as the Octopus, his arch-enemy on a mission to wipe out Spirit's beloved city as he pursues his own version of immortality.

"The Spirit" is directed by Frank Miller (Sin City), who is making his solo helming debut. The new film is scheduled to hit theaters on Christmas (December 25th).

    Lions gate just released the new one-sheet for Frank Miller’s The Spirit featuring the film’s signature catchphrase, “My City Screams,” spelled out in nor-ish soothed city brick. Really well executed, don’t cha think, and this is merely the early lead-up to the movie’s January 2009 release. I’m sure the marketing department won’t like to hear this, but I’m getting a slight Dark man vibe from the materials so far. You see the similarity? Hopefully an inescapable line of “Who is…The Spirit?!” buttons are not planned for theater employees.
