It was recently announced that Columbia Pictures will be putting together a new version of the 1984 hit "The Karate Kid," which has been re-worked as a starring vehicle for Jaden Smith, the 10-year-old son of Will Smith.
It has been said that the new film will be set in that exotic locale and will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor.
Now, JoBlo has learned that young Jaden wants to get rid of the famous crane kick from the new remake. If you remember the first original movie, Daniel (Ralph Macchio) used the kick to win a Karate contest and to defeat the main bully. Instead, Jaden wants to use some moves that he has seen playing video games on his Xbox.
Luckily, his father Will, who is also a producer on the film, has been trying to convince his son to ignore his urges to include unrealistic fighting moves and instead use the crane kick. We'll see how this plays out.
