During a press junket for "Seven Pounds," JoBlo had a chance to chat with Will Smith, who revealed that a sequel to "Hancock" will "definitely" happen soon.

Smith added that there are a lot of unexplored characters in the "Hancock" universe that would be perfect for a sequel. He also confirmed that "Hancock 2" should appear in theaters in a few years.

In the film, Smith plays a hard-living superhero who has fallen out of favor with the public. He then enters into a questionable relationship with the wife of the public relations professional who's trying to repair his image.

"Hancock" earned $624 million in worldwide ticket sales on a $150 million budget. It also marked the eighth Will Smith film in a row to open at No. 1.

Do you think "Hancock" deserves a sequel?

Commenters 2 and 4, your crazy!! Hancock worked as a film. I love that it is an original idea too. It feels like it can continue for the sake that we haven't seen a supervillain and many people favor Will Smith being his own superhero. It feels like maybe this could be trilogy matter of fact. People like the idea and a sequel will expand the excitement people got, like me. Got to see the unrated version, though, hated that it was a litte short.

The first film was bad enough. It's childish, inane, stupid and offensive.
Save the budget for a sequel. Fund something worthwhile instead...cancer research, perhaps? How about all the films in development hell that need the green light? Sin City 2, maybe?
