Zack Snyder Wants to Make "The Dark Knight Returns...

Zack Snyder Wants to Make "The Dark Knight Returns"

Zack Snyder is no slouch when it comes to moviemaking. He started his career with "Dawn of the Dead," which is (in my opinion) one of the best horror films in the last decade. He followed that with "300" and is currently adapting "Watchmen," which has been called unadaptable. Snyder has become a go-to director for quality entertainment, so what project has he set his sights on next? Apparently, a Batman movie.

"I'm interested in Frank Miller's [graphic novel] 'The Dark Knight'," Snyder told IFMagazine. "That's really my favorite comic book. However, the studio has this massive franchise and I don't think they'll let me make a Batman movie where he's fifty years old and Ronald Reagan is president."

The comic book series that Snyder is talking about is called "The Dark Knight Returns" and takes place when Bruce Wayne retires as Batman after the death of the second Robin, Jason Todd. After Gotham is overwhelmed with crime and is plagued by a violent gang called The Mutants, Bruce comes out of retirement to fight the gang with a new Robin, a young girl named Carrie Kelly.

The series also includes Harvey Dent who fixed his face but is now planning to blow up Gotham's twin towers. Commissioner Gordon is forced into retirement at age seventy. The Joker gets released from Arkham Asylum after being catatonic for ten years.

Would you want to see a Batman movie with a fifty year old Batman and a female Robin?

I think Snyder needs to stop thinking about creating "The Dark Knight Returns" and work on something else. Let Nolan keep making the Batman movie.

ummmmm no. Although I enjoyed Indy 4, there was a part of me, that was like, isn't he too old for this shit? At some point, the ass-kicking has to end. Sorry.

Sounds pretty interesting, but it would be very weird to see Batman old and have a female Robin..
I still love the way Chris Nolan has made them and would love to see him continue to make more Batman films.

Well...it sounds interesting. But yeah, nothing compare to what I have seen is better than Nolan's job and beautiful work. Im a girl, so its weird as a girl to say what I always say, Batman is my all time fave, and I cant wait for Watchmen...I think is the only film his good at, cause the rest of the films he has made are not great, but not that bad...but yeah, I give him a chance...(Ok, he will never read our opinions or facts, so, if he makes the film or not, we have to wait anyway)

PD: I would love to see an old Batman, cause I think they diserve to get old, as we do in real life. We are not invinsibles or we have infinite lives...so, Its great to think of it...XD

    THE JOKERDISE CRANE
    WHY SO SERIOUS?

Dawn of the Dead is one of the best horror REMAKES in the past decade.

With Zack Snyder as director, anything is possible. I'd give it a chance. Surely, it would be a lot better than Batman & Robin with George Clooney and Batman Forever with Val Kilmer. After all, Batman is a complex character and as much as I LOVE my Batman and would hate for another terrible movie about him to be made, I'd still give it a chance because at least it already has the graphic novel as it's foundation and the creator Frank Miller as a guide.

It would be great if Zack Snyder can adapt a film out of "The Dark Knight Returns" now that the current "Batman" movie franchise that Christopher Nolan started earned lots of money because of last summer's "The Dark Knight". While it's possible, the '80s publication along with its setting could be a problem: Ronald Reagan is president in this story and he's facing a Soviet invasion. We can use a fictional president facing a Russian invasion instead, or to be faithful to the book, set it in an alternate '80s like the upcoming "Watchmen".

If someone were to play a 50-year-old Batman, I suggest Christian Bale would wear make-up to make him 50ish. But for the Joker, I don't know: Heath Ledger already died and replacing him with someone else would be horrible since he already played the best Joker yet. I suggest a digital image of a 50ish Heath (if he had lived) instead.

Hold up, I just read about the girl robin ... you can Łuck right off. Leave that out, I'm sorry but a 8 stone girl just can't beat up an 18 stone bloke! Physically impossible, that's where marvel has messed up on many occassions. Leave that out, stick to my justice league idea lol.

He should do 'The Justice League', I like his work but no one can do it like Nolan. I don't know what it is but a perfect gotham has been made from Nolan, perfect cast, perfect environment, perfect characters etc, so I think he should stay but I'm definatly not against the idea of Synder making a justice league movie, that would be great!

  • Hell's yea, but not as a live action film. He should adapt it to a animation of some sort. Cartoon or CG.
