Heath Ledger Golden Globe Given To Daughter Matilda

Heath Ledger’s Golden Globe gong will go to the late actor’s young daughter, Matilda.

Heath won a Best Supporting Actor prize for his role as “The Joker” in the 2008 Summer blockbuster
The Dark Knight.

“I should imagine that eventually it will be going to Matilda,” Heath’s mom Sally Bell told PEOPLE Magazine in an interview from her home in Perth, Australia on Monday.

“At this stage she is only so young, but down the track she will have all these things. It will belong to her because she is part of him.”

“It is such a fantastic and wonderful legacy for his daughter,” Ms. Bell added.

“Matilda will have so many people who will be able to speak to her about her father’s abilities and [the] respect he had in the industry. That is such a wonderful legacy to leave.”

Heath Ledger was found dead in his New York City apartment last January of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

Well I agree with Salemslot. I hope that Heath believed in God. I don't think he did though which is really sad. :( I'm hoping that sometime before he died he started believing in God or something like that. But anyway there WAS a reason that God decided to take Heath away. God doesn't do anything without a reason.

Wow, Salemslot, all you have to say is that i hoped he believed in god. WTF? If you believe there's a big invisible man in the sky keep that to yourself, or come back down to planet earth and show a bit of respect. He died of an accidental overdose ... anyway, I'm so please he won it, but I think the Dark Knight should have had loads of nominations.

It's got 9 at the baftas luckily including supporting actor but it didn't get best picture, or best director ... they still have that snobery towards comic book movies.

And I can't think of anyone else who they could have given that too.

Umm...to someone here. He died of an overdose, so what?
He diserve anything, cause he was talented, he lived his moments in acting well, I mean, he acted with passion, feeling, he enjoy his moment. If I were in his place, I would be proud of myself, cause u dont EVEN know HOW you are going to die. YOU could die today, tomorrow, in a month, a year, who knows? And you dont even know if u are gonna get shot, die naturaly, with medicine (his case, mixed medicine), by cancer, WHO KNOWS? Realy, we need to think more on our lifes instead of critize others that are on a better life now. He won, he diserves it, we dont, cause we are not actors or artist yet or whatever u want to be!
So instead of saying "dying on overdose is bad", u could say something positive like "he diserve it cause his work was out of this world". Dying is a thing we cant control, and only God can(if u believe oviously).

That is so great! Heath Ledger REALLY deserved that award! It's so sad that he wasn't alive to receive it but at least his daughter will get it when she's old enough. She is just so beautiful! She looks EXACTLY like her daddy!

not to speak ill of the dead but, dying of an overdose is nothing to be proud of~so, I wouldn't put him on a pedestal~hopefully, he believed in God...

Aww, that's wonderful. I never knew that. Hehe, she needs to be proud of her daddy. And she will, when she gets old enough to know the truth and everything he left behind for us, his fans and his family and everyone he work with. She's so like her father!
