Patrick Swayze has been released from hospital, it was confirmed yesterday.
"I am happy to announce that Patrick Swayze is home after a brief hospitalization for pneumonia," his rep Annett Wolf tells People magazine
The Dirty Dancing star, 56, checked himself into hospital for observation on Friday January 9, forcing him to cancel his appearance at the Television Critics Association press event to promote his new A&E series, The Beast, which premiered Jan. 15.
Swayze - who revealed he had Stage 4 pancreatic cancer last year - is remaining positive.
In the latest issue of People magazine, he says, "I am alive and plan on continuing to stay that way.
"It made me suspect there was a possibility of some kind of infection.
"I wanted to jump on it before it turned into a problem. As soon as I got home, I called my doctor and then went straight to the hospital and was immediately put on antibiotics. I'm almost in the clear."
In a recent ABC primetime special, Swayze denied claims that he was on his deathbed but said he may have only two years to live.
"I'd say five years is pretty wishful thinking," he told Barbara Walters. "Two years seems likely if you're going to believe statistics.
"I want to last until they find a cure, which means I'd better get a fire under it."
