Selena Gomez: 'I Want More Challenging Roles'

Selena Gomez wants more "challenging" roles.
The actress, 16, shot to fame playing Alex Russo on the Disney Channel Original Series Wizards of Waverly Place. She is currently working on her debut album, which is tentatively set to be released in the summer of 2009.
But the teen admits she's looking to take her acting career in a different, more serious direction.
She tells Us Weekly magazine, "I love being challenged.
"I love the Disney channel, and I always want to keep that relationship because they gave me my start, but I'd love to someday make a transition and do roles that are really challenging for me. I'd like to do comedy, romance, anything.
"Hopefully I'll finish up in April and debut my album in July.
"I'm really excited that people will see a whole other side of me."
