No Oscar Love For Clint and DiCaprio. Who Should Have Gotten A Nod?

Is it just me or do you scan the Oscar nominations list as much for who didn’t make the cut as for who did. Sure, let’s all hoot and holler for Mickey Rourke and Robert Downey Jr. (now if they weren’t nominated I’d be in a surly mood) but surely some of your favorites didn’t land on the coveted list.

If you’re a Clint Eastwood fan (and who isn’t?) today wasn’t the best day. Eastwood failed to earn a nod for his much praised acting in “Gran Torino” and also failed to duplicate his Golden Globe nod for his song from the same film. Oh how I was praying for an Eastwood singing turn at the Kodak theater! And speaking of the Best Song category, how does Bruce Springsteen not get a nod for his soulful end credits contribution to “The Wrestler”?

Clint isn’t the only actor rebuffed by the Academy today. Leonardo DiCaprio couldn’t catch a break with what might be his most mature performance to date in “Revolutionary Road.” Anyone else think Leo is feeling a little left out today seeing that two of his co-stars, Kate Winslet and Michael Shannon, did get recognition?

But that’s just me. Who should have earned Oscar glory today in your opinion? “The Dark Knight” for Best Picture? Wall-E for Best Actor? Sound off!

For my part, I am as usual disappointed by the Academy. It seems biased to me and thus truly unfair. I have not seen Gran Torino or Changeling. But Clint Eastwood must be as great as ever. Revolutionary Road is also unfairly ignored. The movie is moving and certainly more than The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which is entertaining but, in my opinion, not very profound. Dicaprio acts extremely well in Revolutionary Road in what is probably his more mature role. He has been ignored over the years no matter how good he was in The Aviator, Blood Diamond, or Revolutionary Road. I m glad I m not the only one to think so!

The Academy never pleases everybody, nor that it can, but I admit that even though I do consider Christopher Nolan to be one of the very best directors alive, I'm not sure about The Dark Knight, even though it was a terrific film; I haven't seem all the nominated ones yet, so I cannot judge. As for DiCaprio, I believe he did deserve the nomination for sure, but it seems that he will go in the same category as James Dean's; GREAT talents never recognized by the Academy. Great thing was Heath Ledger's nomination; I really hope he gets it.

Way for the Academy to Award movies I haven't seen.

I am a little upset, but I'm used to it.

In my mind, The Dark Knight was the best picture, and best adapted screenplay, and Christopher Nolan was the best director.

The Oscars are out of touch with reality. The only noms I'm pleased with are Angelina Jolie, Taraji P. Henson, the ONE nom for Revolutionary Road, Brad Pitt's nomination, and Heath Ledger's nomination.

The Dark Knight definitely deserved a Best Picture nomination.
Seven Pounds deserved a Best Picture nomination.
    DiCaprio probably deserved a nomination.
Colin Farrell deserved a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his performance in Pride and Glory.
Will Smith deserved a Best Actor nomination for Seven Pounds.
Rosario Dawson deserved a Best Actress nomination for Seven Pounds.

    A LOT OF SNUBS.

i agree with the last comment. not many are talking about it, but i think changeling might be the best film of the year. it was amazing. by the way, this story is inaccurate. kate winslet got nominated but not for revolutionary road. i also agree dicaprio needs to catch a break. he's one of the best actors we have and if he cant get love for this film when will he ever earn the oscar that he so deserves.

I think Clint Eastwood should of also been recognised for his directing of Changeling. His score for that film was an annoying snub too. I think it should of been nominated for best picture too, I know it wouldon't of had much chance of winning compared to the other films, it should have gotten nominated.

I agree on the Bruce Springsteen snub, f'ing crazy! When the creits came up for the film and that song started playing I couldn't leave my seat. It depicted the movie so well that every time I think about the film, I hear the song playing in my head as well.

Clint Eastwood has been one of my favorite actor and "Gran Torino" to be pass up for what, younger actors, sickening! Mr. Eastwood is still one of the best actors around. He can still come across as a strong person you don't mass with. He proformance in "Gran Torino" shows that with age does not come deteriation of talent!

Bruce Springsteen's song for The Wrestler. He not only won the Globe, it was the most perfest song depiction of a film I have seen in a LONG time!!!
