Damon Blasts "Repulsive" James Bond

Damon Blasts "Repulsive" James Bond

Matt Damon isn't a fan of James Bond!

The actor - who has played CIA operative Jason Bourne in the three hit Bourne movies - has branded the suave British spy "repulsive".

He said, "They could never make a James Bond movie like any of the Bourne films because Bond is an imperialist, misogynist sociopath who goes around bedding women and swilling martinis and killing people. He's repulsive."

"The movies have a formula, and they stick to it, and it makes them a lot of money.

"They know what they are doing and they're going to keep doing it."

James Bond is currently played by British actor Daniel Craig.

Quantum of Solace is the single worst Bond film in the whole of the franchise and the only one I never EVER want to sit through again. Just thinking of it brings on a panic attack... blurgh! Horrible.

Misogynist sociopath who beds women and swills martinis? That's a bit rich coming from an A list movie star!

    nice post, Lisa :)

i like Damon usually, but it seems he's not learned much about classy filmmaking. the recent 2 bond films were a distinct departure from the traditional Connery/Moore/Brosnan roles that satirized the suave spy role. i would rather see darker Bond actors, like Craig and Dalton - genuinely charmful and fantastically suspenseful.

pity. Damon hates whatever meaningful project he's unfit for.

The Daniel Craig films are the furthest departure from the charisma that created the franchise in the first place. They're absolutely despicable. Bond isn't and should never be "real" violence. Having a torture scene in Casino Royale was an atrocity. It wasn't worth the effort after that. Bourne now has the taste that Bond gave up, minus the girls and quotable script.

And there's me think Bourne films are boring! Jason Bourne is a one woman man who doesn't enjoy his life. Bond is shag-whoever bloke and enjoys what he does. Amazingly (sarcasm), more people want to be Bond than Bourne. It's a formula that works!

How can you call it 'repulsive'? It's a dream for all men to live like Bond ... I'm guessing he's religious?

'Casino Royale' was a great film. 'Quantum of Solace' was rubbish.

Ha ha.. though i agree with him, C'mon Casino Royale was awesome, but the new bond flick 'Quantum Of Solace' was just Bourne's rip off!

**Dr.Crane : i didn't know he turned down Harvey Dent in TDK?! why would he did that, too violent? O_o

  • This coming from the guy who turned down the parts of Bobby Mercer in "Four Brothers" and Harvey Dent in "The Dark Knight" because they were too violent.

  • WOW. I didn't know he felt so strongly about it...

But he does have a point. Bourne was on a mission of self-discovery and on the way found the possible love of his life only to have her taken away when he just wanted to be left alone. Whereas Bond is constantly bedding random women. I don't know if Bond is a sociopath; he is doing his job and the bad guys just happen to get killed if they don't get out of his way, lol
