For a moment there I thought we were going to lose Anne Hathaway to the shitty realm of I’m famous and I don’t care movies that her Bride Wars costar Kate Hudson rolls around in. Sigh of relief everyone. Hathaway is ready to redeem herself for Bride Wars and word is that she’s planning something cool. By cool I don't mean a rom-com with Patrick Dempsey. Really. Cool.
The website China.org says that Stephen Chow is working on a new movie, in which Anne Hathaway may star opposite Jack Black. Stephen Chow’s the director of insane, over the top, kung fu movies like Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. At one point he was also supposed to be Seth Rogen’s Kato in a movie version of The Green Hornet but his involvement became uncertain after he started talking about how he’d rather be doing an original, all Chow project. This could be that project.
As for what it’s about, we have only the vaguest of notions. Chow’s production company says it will be a superhero, action-comedy. That description by the way, also fits The Green Hornet. Chow seems determined to do a superhero comedy, but apparently only on his own terms.
