Tom Berenger Joins "Smokin' Aces" Prequel

According to Moviehole and Blackfilm, both Tom Berenger (Sniper, Platoon, Major League) and Sofia Vergara (Madea Goes to Jail) are in talks to join the straight-to-DVD "Smokin' Aces" prequel called "Smokin' Aces: Blowback."
Berenger is said to be in talks to play the lead in the film, a federal agent sworn to protect a witness under custody from the mass of maniacs and thugs who have either been evoked or commissioned to nail him. One of the bounty hunters is AK-47, the sister of the Tremors' boys from the original.
Vergara spoke about her role: "I start shooting in 2 weeks the prequel to 'Smokin' Aces'. I'm like an assassin. I just got the part yesterday."
The rest of the cast includes David Richmond-Peck (2012), Michael Parks (From Dusk Till Dawn), Nestor Carbonell ("Lost") and Tommy Flanagan (AVP).
PJ Pesce (Lost Boys: The Tribe) is set to direct the new film, which will get underway in Vancouver.
