An award-winning equestrian, Jill Vandenberg Curtis grew up loving horses. Upon discovering that over 100,000 horses a year – many of them in the best health – are being slaughtered for human consumption overseas, she broke down in tears. When she and her husband, legendary actor Tony Curtis (Some Like it Hot, Sweet Smell of Success, The Defiant Ones), left Hollywood behind for quieter life in the Nevada desert, Jill sought a fulfilling passion that would make a difference.
That cause is to halt the senseless slaughter of thousands of American horses for human consumption overseas. With a clear mission, the Shiloh Horse Rescue and Sanctuary was born (“Shiloh” means “a place of peace” in Hebrew).
Join Jill and Tony on this inspiring journey and a tour of Shiloh. Meet some of their special friends – two and four legged – as they celebrate their 400th rescue. And travel to the nation’s capital where, along with fellow advocate Bo Derek, Jill and Tony persuade representatives and senators to vote for legislation to end this atrocity. The Jill & Tony Curtis Story, directed by Ian Ayres, takes an intimate look into the private lives of one of Hollywood’s most endearing couples (together for over 15 years). Share private moments at their Las Vegas retreat; tag along on Tony’s personal appearances and university lectures; and, most importantly, learn more about Shiloh’s ongoing quest.
The Jill & Tony Curtis Story is presented in widescreen with an aspect ratio of 16 x 9.
