Iconic movie star Paul Newman passed away at the ripe old age of 83 in September of last year. Now, we know the word "icon" gets tossed around far too frequently these days, but the Academy Award-actor left behind a legacy that far extended beyond his impressive film career.

Newman served in the Navy in World War II, studied Drama at Yale before taking on Broadway and eventually breaking into Hollywood, where he would indelibly leave his mark.

A devoted husband and father, Newman's marriage to Joanne Woodward lasted an impressive 50 years. In addition, his philanthropic efforts for charities, which include his Newman's Own line of food products and the Hole in the Wall, ensure that his humanitarian efforts live on.

    A man that has lived his life doing the things he loved and believed in. Living life to the full, and showing us just how must he loved the human race in his all his many charities he has given to. i believe
    that the world has been a better place for having such
    a man as the great and oh so talented Paul Newman.
