Jay Roach's long-gestating comedy "Dinner for Schmucks" is now finally getting ready to get started with Steve Carell (Get Smart) and Paul Rudd (Knocked Up) starring.
Roach (Meet the Parents) has been trying to get "Schmucks," which is a remake of the French comedy "Le Diner des cons," made for a while. But now, both Carell and Rudd are clearing their schedules to begin shooting in October.
The story revolves around an extraordinarily stupid man, who possesses the ability to ruin the life of anyone who spends more than a few minutes in his company.
Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) was originally aboard to star in the pic, but the fickle comedian last year quietly unattached his name from the project, in which he would have starred as the most pathetic guest to ever grace one man's weekly dinner gathering.
