Mel Gibson's Ex-Wife to Receive $500 Million

We know that Mel Gibson has had a successful career for the last thirty years and hit the jackpot with "The Passion of the Christ" after taking a gamble on the controversial film. But how much is the legendary actor worth?
According to Entertainment Weekly, Gibson has been able to accumulate a personal wealth of $1 billion, and now his low-profile wife is legally entitled to half of that after she filed to end their 28 year marriage.
Celebrity divorce lawyer Raoul Felder doesn't expect for Mrs. Gibson to make this a drawn-out battle. "If she is like any other wife, she'll want her money now," he said. "She doesn't want to be a partner in a movie that may or may not be made 10 years from now. I think she'd want to be paid up front."
Felder added that the divorce should not have much effect on Gibson's upcoming projects, unless his wife decides that she wants a piece of them.
Gibson's divorce will become the most expensive celebrity divorce ever. Michael Jordan previously paid $168 million in his 2006 split from his wife Juanita, Steven Spielberg's gave up $100 million in his 1989 split from actress Amy Irving, and Paul McCartney shelled out $48.6 million in a 2008 settlement with Heather Mills.
