Back in 2007, producer David Kirschner revealed that a "Child's Play" remake was in the works and that Don Mancini was writing the script. Mancini has previously penned all five Chucky films and is now planning to helm the remake.
Kirschner later revealed that he wanted to get Brad Dourif, who voiced Chucky, to return for the new film. Now, Bloody-Disgusting had the chance to speak to Dourif and asked him whether he was involved with project.
Dourif revealed that after hearing from a random person at a drug store that he wasn't returning, he immediately called Mancini and asked: "Are you remaking 'Child's Play'?" "Yeah, you're gonna do it, right?," Mancini replied. "Yes," screamed Dourif.
Kirschner previously said that the new movie will be an origin story and will be similar to the original film, but with new twists. At this point, Universal Pictures has yet to greenlight the remake.
