Date Night Gets Even More Crowded

Date Night Gets Even More Crowded

I have no idea how a movie that's called Date Night, that's ostensibly about a relationship between two people, can possibly contain such a gigantic cast. But given that the producers have made such great decisions about who will interact with Tina Fey and Steve Carell, I can only look forward to what's bound to be a bunch of star cameos strung into a plot.

The latest additions to the ever-ballooning cast are Ray Liotta, Mila Kunis and Mark Ruffalo, all of whom will play characters that Fey and Carell's characters encounter on their "date gone awry." According to THR, Liotta will play some kind of villain (perfect), Kunis the petty criminal wife of James Franco's character (sounds hilarious already) and Ruffalo Carell's best friend (he's welcome in anything).

Already cast are Franco, Kristen Wiig (who will play Ruffalo's wife), Mark Wahlberg, Taraji P. Henson, Common, Gossip Girl Leighton Meester, and Jimmi Simpson. The gigantic cast sounds overwhelming, but director Shawn Levy has some experience in the area after directing both Night at the Museum movies, so he'll probably be just fine. My main concern is that he leave enough room for Fey and Carell's signature comedy styles, given that most movies each actor has been in haven't used them as well as their own TV vehicles. But if something can manage to be The 40-Year Old Virgin meets 30 Rock, we'll all pretty much have to die happy
