EW.com Exclusive: Catherine Hardwicke to Work on Modern-day Hamlet

Entertainment Weekly’s EW.com has learned exclusively that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is at work on an updated version of Hamlet, starring Emile Hirsch. The film, based on an idea initially proposed by Hirsch, has been conceived as a modern-day supernatural thriller that would transplant the action of Shakespeare's play to an East Coast liberal arts college, using a mix of original and contemporary dialogue. Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia) and Hardwicke are at work on a screenplay for Overture Films.
