Usually cast as the single-life-loving, bubbly, lighthearted ingenue, Cameron Diaz found herself in the unique situation of playing a mother on-screen when she was first presented with the script for My Sister's Keeper.
In the film, Diaz plays the role of a mother who gives birth to a second daughter in the hopes that she can help save her eldest, ailing child. Cameron admits that her initial reaction was to disagree with the character's decisions and that was the reason she ultimately signed on to the film.
"Then you know I thought, I can't judge this woman because I'm not in this situation. I don't know what it's like to have a child who's dying," Diaz said in a recent interview about the film.
