Bale 'relieved' to leave 'Dark Knight', 'T4'

Christian Bale has admitted that he was relieved to escape blockbusters The Dark Knight and Terminator Salvation to work on crime drama Public Enemies.

In an interview with Empire, the actor said that he was thrilled to perform under director Michael Mann.

"I didn't feel pressure from those movies [The Dark Knight, Terminator Salvation], but it's a relief just to make different kinds of movies," he explained.

"Working with Michael Mann was one of the most satisfying experiences ever, I think he's one of the finest filmmakers around. He's incredibly thorough and he's probably the only person I've ever met who actually enjoys doing more research than I do."

Bale co-stars alongside Johnny Depp in the film, which arrives in cinemas on July 3.

    I can't agree with the guy below. I havent heard people complain about him, after all, he makes most of his films successful. Everyone has an angry side, just a shame that his was caught on tape. There are thousands of actors who have probably done the same thing and worse which were never recorded and never spoken of again! There's probably something in the contracts.

    ANYbody that has worked with mr Bale knows hid ego is the hardest thing to eork around. He is a difficult if not seemimgly impossible actor to work with. As batman, his portrayal is, at best , mediocore, and in terminator, he just plain sucked. ruining a possibility for a what could have been first rate number one block buster. And as Batman, anyone that follows te series, and I mean the real comic series, knows he was a dark, vengful creature with cash. and could have been played better by so many actors out in the market right now. and with so many villians in the series, why keep reniting the same two? to show he is better at beating the Joker. who was so dark we lost a fine young man? anf the on set fights were as bad as the off creen sissy whining and complaining, screaming of not enough money, nd to much this, not enough that. He is an actor, not the ruler of the film, that would be the director and producers job. Christian Bale, know your role in this industry and learn it well, no man is an island!
