Billy Mays Heart Condition Likely Lead To Death

A heart attack
— and not a bump on the head during a rocky flight into Florida — is what likely killed infomercial king Billy Mays over the weekend. The television pitchman was found dead in his Tampa, Florida home over the weekend. He was 50 years old.

According to the coroner in Tampa, Fla., Mays died of a pulmonary embolism. Evidence of heart disease was also found during a preliminary autopsy, PEOPLE Magazine reports.

Mays “had an enlarged heart, a thickening of the wall of the ventricle which takes blood to the heart,” Hillsborough County Medical Examiner Vernard Adams revealed in a press conference Monday.
