Will Megan Fox Feud With Michael Bay Mean No Transformers 3?

As you no doubt already know, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is currently playing in theaters everywhere and making insane amounts of money. In fact, you’ve probably already seen it twice considering how much money this thing has made in its opening week.

As of now, it’s made over a half-billion dollars worldwide in just over a week and expected to net plenty more over the weekend - that means we are absolutely guaranteed a third installment to round off the trilogy.

No matter what anyone says, or what rumors you may hear about Michael Bay, Transformers 3 will be made. It’s a guarantee.

For the next installment, what we do know is that Bay is taking a break from the franchise to work on a little more serious and a much smaller project. He’s spent the last three years working strictly on bringing the Cybertronian robots to the big screen and working insane hours to get the sequel out on an extremely rushed schedule. Now, he needs time off to gather himself and work on something different and come back later with a fresh mind.

As for the franchise’s leading lady and ultimate marketing device, Megan Fox has been continuously playing down her role in the movie and berating the Michael Bay franchise. Here are some examples:

In response to a question about how much of her acting range has been demonstrated, Fox said:

“Seven percent. On the new one ['Transformers 2'], I tried. But unless you’re a seasoned veteran, working with Michael Bay is not about an acting experience.”

And as for claims against Bay for being more interested in effects and explosions than action:

“That’s true. He thinks it’s funny to put his actors through Navy Seal boot camp to make a movie. And it’s not even necessary for the job! It amuses him”

Perhaps she’s emulating what she’s been reading online from news sites, blogs and critics and trying to appease to them?

On one hand, she’s being completely honest and fearless in what she says. She speaks her mind and her beliefs and doesn’t back down. On the other hand, this may be unprofessional to a certain extent when it comes to being negative towards those who got her to where she is today.

Of course, nothing against Bay goes without response and here is what the explosive director said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. Wall Street asked: “It’s interesting that you want to focus on acting. Megan Fox, one of the leads in “Transformers” has criticized your films for being special-effects-driven and not offering so many acting opportunities. Do you agree?” Bay’s Response:

“Well, that’s Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she’s 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, “Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it.” But I 100% disagree with her. Nick Cage wasn’t a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in “Armageddon.” Shia LaBeouf wasn’t a big movie star before he did “Transformers”—and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from “Bad Boys.” Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in “Transformers.” I like to think that I’ve had some luck in building actors’ careers with my films.”

At this point, I don’t think it matters. This movie will make an insane amount of money with our without Megan Fox. This franchise started her career and she doesn’t seem that thankful of it all.

Fox didn’t play that major of a role in Revenge of the Fallen in terms of what went on with the plot and according to a survey leading up to the film, moviegoers are going to see this movie regardless. The millions of tween, teens, young adults and every other moviegoer who is subject to the mass marketing behind this franchise isn’t going to all-of-a-sudden avoid the next movie if she’s not in it.

That being said, she’ll no doubt be in the next one. She may be quoted as being “controversial” but money talks and in 2-3 years time, she’ll want to be involved again in the biggest movie of that year, especially after this movie’s box office earnings are counted up.

Does Megan Fox’s involvement with the next Transformers affect your decision to see it or can she be replaced?

Transformers 3 will likely debut for the summer of 2012.

I dont think it matters if Megan is in #3 but she looks hot doing it anyway. Shia already did a lot of stuff and he was doing fine w/o transformers. Will and Ben dont owe their careers to Michael (so egotistical), he can say whatever but the movie-goers decide.

After ROTF, I think I'll avoid TF3 like swine flu, since Michael Bay's coming back (you all know he will!)--but that's another story. Here's a better question: Why do you need a human to go to "Robot Heaven"?......Exactly! You don't need the human characters to sell the movie, the robots sell themselves.

All this "feud" proves is that Michael Bay can't handle the truth or he really is delusional.

"Marketing device" is right, Megan Fox seems to be in the Transformers movies mostly for the eye candy. Still, Michael Bay comes off a bit egotistical. Shia has had a following from previous films and is coming into his own as an actor. As much as Bay had his hand in boosting the exposure/popularity of Labeouf, Will Smith, and others, Will Smith is such a high caliber performer, I think he would have made it big anyway. (I won't dispute the same of Cage or Affleck, as their performances are always hit or miss for me.) As for Fox, with or without Michael Bay's blockbusters, men across the globe would gladly pay to see any movie with Fox in the previews.

    RE: Third comment

Thank you! At last! Someone else who isn't afraid to voice against her!

I agree and think the franchise would be a lot better without her and her bloody waxy pouting.

I will watch the third one, the problem is not Megan's involvement, it's the damn length and story line.. let's see if the third can round up as much money as the 2nd..
