Alexis Bledel is known to most as Rory Gilmore, perfect, quick-witted daughter from Gilmore Girls, but she is actually quite different from the character she played, and she wants people to know it. In her latest movie Post Grad, Alexis plays a recent college graduate with no good prospects for her future. Alexis talked with WWD about life after Rory, and how she deals with it.
"I try to get away from the way people see me on the show in little ways, try to dress older or just differently," says Alexis. "I try not to wear anything that makes me look too young because that only aggravates the idea that I'm young and sweet like my character on [Gilmore Girls]." She recently moved from Los Angeles to Brooklyn, probably trying to find ways to work off her cute girl image.
Alexis has definitely been pushing the older edge look for a while, and her latest photoshoot for WWD is no exception. I'm kinda loving her in all of that 80s clothing. I wish it were the 80s. "It was a fun fantasy day for me," says Alexis of the photoshoot. "It's stuff I don't wear that often. I usually wear jeans and button-ups."
Jeans and button-ups? That's so Rory. Wait, no, I mean, that's so Alexis who is completely different from Rory. I'm very excited for Post Grad. It'll be like Gilmore Girls with being Gilmore Girls. Good times.
