Director Robert Zemeckis has commissioned a script for a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel.
The Forrest Gump helmer said that the original film's writers Jeffrey Price and Peter Seaman are working on the update's screenplay.
The 57-year-old steered the first Roger Rabbit in 1988. However, rumours previously suggested that Disney was developing a second instalment without Zemeckis.
"I think there was a time right after the movie came out that the Disney regime at the time - it was a point in the life of the studio where if you made a successful movie they could no longer afford to hire you back," he stated. "I guess there were some projects that I don't know anything about."
Zemeckis added that he hopes to use new digital tools like performance-capture technology for the sequel.
