Dr. Richard Massey
Bill Pullman portrays Harvard professor and astrophysicist Dr. Richard Massey on NBC’s “Revelations.”
Born in Hornell, New York, Pullman is one of seven children. While most of his siblings followed in their parents’ footsteps entering the medical profession, he attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing. After graduating, Pullman became a professor at Montana State University, where he ran the theater department for two years.
Pullman then went to New York where he performed in a number of Off-Broadway plays gaining notice for his performance in a revival of Sam Shepard’s “Curse of the Starving Class” with Kathy Bates. Soon thereafter Pullman was offered his debut film role – one of the leads in the hit comedy “Ruthless People.”
Appearing in over 40 motion pictures, his feature film credits include “Spaceballs,” “The Accidental Tourist,” “A League of Their Own,” “Sleepless in Seatle,” “Malice,” “Wyatt Earp,” “While You Were Sleeping,” “Independence Day,” “ Brokedown Palace,” and “Igby Goes Down.” Most recently, he starred in the hit film “The Grudge,” with Sarah Michelle Gellar.
On the small screen Pullman directed, produced and starred in the cable feature “The Virginian.” This television movie marked his directorial debut and garnered critical acclaim for his portrayal of the title character.
In 2002, Pullman co-starred with Mercedes Ruehl in Edward Albee’s “The Goat” on Broadway garnering critical raves for his performance.
