I have always loved to watch movies and listen to music. I have always loved cartoons, jokes, funny stories and movies. When I was a youngster and movies were a lot cheaper, I would go to a theater with my lunch in a brown bag and watch a good movie or double feature with a cartoon and a News Reel. We would collect deposit bottles and turn them in for movie money. My friends would do the same. Sometimes we stayed so long, they chased us out. There was one theater that ran 25 comedy shorts for 15 cents. In later life we would see a movie and a live show.
I remember we went to the New York Paramount to see the first version of the "House of Wax" starring Vincent Price. The live show was with Eddie Fisher was still in his kakais. He sat on the edge of the state and sang. Many of these classic theaters like the Brooklyn Paramount, New York Paramount, Fox, State, the entire Randforce circuit are closed down. That is so sad. Some were converted to super markets or churches. Then they built these multiplexes, the Whitestone Drive In located in the Bronx, New York was converted into the Whitestone Multiplex Theaters with 14 screens with automated equipment and one projectionist. The Sunrise Drive In located in Valley Stream, New York was converted into the Sunrise Multiplex Theaters with 12 screens. The unions sold out their membership. I could tell you stories about the union that would curl your hair. I still do enjoy the old movies as well as the newer movies. There are still no actors or actresses like the ones of yesteryear __________________________________________________ I am a country music fan. I also like bluegrass music. I have seen many of the entertainers live at local shows. I like most the old style country music. I like Hank Williams, Sr. His music was the greatest. I like Dottie West, Patsy Cline, Reba McEntire, Skeeter Davis, Cousin Minnie Pearl, June Carter-Cash, Johnny Cash, Buck Owens, George Jones, Webb Pearce, Red Souvine, Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Ernest Tubb, Little Jimmy Dickens, Bill Anderson __________________________________________________ I am an American and love this country. We need to restore what was legal in the olden days. This country was founded by immigrants who came from other countries through Ellis Island and used to go to work during the day and go to night school to learn English, then they applied for citizenship. Ellis Island is now a museum. We bought the island now known as America from the Indians for 24 dollars worth of beads and trinkets. We need to get rid of all these illegals without papers or green cards and send them back from where they came, they are taking over our country. They don't work or work off the books, like driving an unmetered cab. They are willing to work for less than minimum wage. They are on Unemployment, Medicaid, Welfare, Food Stamps and what else they can freeload. English is the language of this country, if you don't speak it then learn it or go back where you came from. They have come here illegally from Mexico, Haiti, Russia, China, Africa and living in Texas, California, Colorado, Arizona, New York and New Jersey. They live ten families in an apartment designed for one family. They even live in buildings set to be demolished. _________________________________________________ I do love the friends I have made on Flixster, some are new and some are old Flixster has 25 people working for them. There is a forum that has 5 moderators. Joe a moderator who was an administrator and the founder of flixster is elsewhere. Eugene a moderator / programmer is not there. Dave is a moderator who was on vacation. I can't even get closed accounts who still appear on My Friends list removed. They don't even respond to messages. It seems all the moderators are unpaid volunteers and only the administrators are paid. Not only have the forum moderators disappeared, but the members have taken over the forum and true problems are not being addressed. Meghan McGrath aka FoxyRobinson used to be on my friends list has transferred into a rude and nasty know it all young woman. This site has a great number of juveniles with accounts. Most are not annoying. When one 14 year old named Jack Moore aka ElectroBoy is rowdy, harasses and uses obscene language at the forum. I have flagged him a number of times and Flixster immediately unflags him. Now I am threatened by a moderator named Dave aka CollegeKid with being banned or deleted for abuse of flagging. Now I find out that it takes more than a single flagger before it holds. In the meanwhile ElectroBoy can continue to be annoying as long as no one complains about him, they just don't return to the forum _______________________________________________ |

Both the Hank Williams, Jr. story and Jackie Robinson biography were good films, pretty inspiring stuff in one way or another. ;-)
