Gritty, emotionally powerful, raw and what British Films should be made of. With an almost frightening reality to it, none of the cast could be faulted in this and the acting was of such a high standard that parts could have been mistaken as a documentary.
VERDICT: An absolute must see.

Very impressed, not what I was expecting tomorrow. Great storyline, magical, unexpected and held me all the way through, pleasantly surprised as I wouldn't normally go for this genre.
VERDICT: Definitely worth a watch, would certainly recommend it

Brilliant! This still remains one of my favourite films, I jsut love the way the frustration comes across of no-one believes you when you're crazy. A great part played by Halle Berry, to acompany a great story.
VERDICT: Definitely recommend

Utterly brillient! Completely worthy of all it's praise. If you like films where various stories intertwine then this is an absolute must.
The acting, the plot and pretty much everything about this film was gritty and realistic.
VERDICT: You do need patience with this film, but one I definitely recommend people to see

The best revenge story ever. A great adaption of the book. Performances were great all around, but the performance has to be Guy Pearce for being believably arrogant and a character that compells you to hate with a vengence
|
|
| 6 |
An absolutely outstanding performance from Sean Penn, from a pretty powerful film directed by Clint Eastwood. The emotion came across on screen very well and the story itself was original and unpredictable.
VERDICT: An absolute 'must see'

Certainly my favourite Jodie Foster/Anthony Hopkins role, this is my genre, what could be a better story than to have a Serial Killer, profile another Serial Killer? This is a film that sets a benchmark for all other Serial Killer movies.
Also, on the second disc of the dvd is 'A Making of The Silence of the Lambs' which is pretty interesting and well worth a watch, if you like special feature

Had absolutely no idea what this film was going to be about, but with so many recommendations I had to watch it.
My only complaint about this film, if any, would be that it was ever so slightly drawn out, however I'm not sure the desired effect would happen if it wasn't. The film itself reminded me of 'Crash' in the style of the filming, but not by content. The storyline is actually a very simple one, but very cleverly done.
I've seen many a sub-titled film, but not one that shows more than one language being spoken.
There was one particular part, I thought was especially good, when filming as if through the deaf girl's eyes.
VERDICT: A fantastic film, unlike any other storyline, give it a watch, I shouldn't think there would be many dissapointed with this one.

This 1991 version of Cape Fear, has to be one of the best remakes ever, especially as the original was so good. Not Scorseses usual style of film, but DeNiro is outstanding as lead character Max Cady, a role in which DeNiro researched and built up the part to play including going to prisons to pick out tattoos. Great performances also to Juliette Lewis and Jessica Lange.
Anyone who hasn't yet seen this film is in for a real treat, as although this is a film I watch over and over, there is nothing like the instensity I felt the first time of viewing.

Just my all time favourite film, another re-watch.
Even though it is an all star cast and each play great roles, the best performance in this film has to go to young Joseph Perrino.
A film of child abuse, corruption, religeon, domestic abuse.
The story is told in 2 parts, one as the 4 young boys going to a correctional facility for a prank that went horribly wrong and the second part, revenge.
In addition to this it is believed to be based on a true story

An amazing film, granted it starts off a little slow, but I really like the whole storyline of this. I'd assumed the whole film was filmed on the mountain and by how people were talking about a certain scene, I really thought it was going to be very X rated. Heath Ledger is fantastic

I've watched this film countless times and I could never get bored of it. As a fan of Woody Harrelson, even I didn't expect him to pull off the character of Mickey Knox as well as he did and Juliette Lewis being cast for the part of Mallory was perfection.
This film has two parts to it, a 'before' they got caught for their killing spree and an 'after' they got caught. It portrayed a very deep connection between the two main characters, that could not be broken, whether together, seperated or facing death.
I love the story that the Shaman tells about the snake.
The Style of the filming is probably something taken for granted now in these style films, but it's still impressive.

Shane Meadows has done it again with this semi biographical, realisticly frightening story about a gang of skinheads during Thatcher's Britain in the 80's.
In the usual 'Meadows' manner, the actors in this film weren't plucked from a stage school, but were just normal everyday people which has enabled him to come up with another 'unfaulted' cast. The main character played by Thomas Turgoose, gave a fantastic performance, however was not actually allowed in to see the film at first because of the 18 certificate.
One of the messages in the movie is that not all skinheads are racist, but that some cross that line.
There is quite a nostalgic trip in the beginning scene for anyon in England who will remember this era.
Additionally there is a second disc with extensive interviews with Shane Meadows, for those interested in the Director's view.
VERDICT: Strong, gritty realistic and scary, I'd recommend those that can look for the messages in this to check it out.

This is a pretty mind-twisting film, if you put yourself in the shoes of the main character. A great concept followed by a great ending.
|
|
| 15 |
One of my favourite films and one of the best film twists ever.
A sinister tale, well written and put together well, I never tire from watching this and never fail to be impressed.
To anyone who hasn't watched this film yet, you really should.

This is my second favourite film of all time. Robert De Niro plays a great part in this film as the honest hard working father who has to compete with a man who has himself, taken on his son and introduces him to the world of gangsters. This film is filled with great quotes

I've lost count how many times I've watched this film now.
The Harsh shocking reality of Danny Boyle's film adapted from the novel by Irvine Welsh, was a controversial revolution at it's release and it still remains (in my opinion) the best film of it's genre, a timeless classic highlighting the problems of this huge epidemic.
The film that brought Ewin McGreggor to fame and by far his best performance to date. All the actors were cast extremely well included Carlyle's portrayal of 'Begsby' proving the hard man doesn't need to be a big mean looking man.

One of the greatest films ever made, Ray Liotta makes his role of a lifetime appearance leading a star cast of unfaulted actors in Scorsese's masterpiece.
Capturing the highs and lows of organised crime, this film based on the true life story of Henry Hill from being a somebody to a nobody.
VERDICT: I really can't imagine too many people wouldn't have seen this, it's a timeless classic, but to people who haven't seen it because they are not fans of this genre, if you only ever watch one gangster movie, make it this one.
Also for those of you who enjoy a behind the scenes look at the Director's role, the special features are definitely worth a look.

Re-watched this film and found it as powerful as the first time I'd watched it. This to date is definitely Edward Norton's role of a life time, he made parts cringeworthy and you just couldn't wait for him to be turned around, Edward Furlong played a fantastic part too. There was something in this movie that made it feel so real. This film isn't a promotion for violence, it's a promotion for peace.

Best film I've watched in ages, this was great from start to finish
|
|
| 21 |
Slightly corny, low budget English film and one I have watched so many times, a comedy slant on London Gangster's brought to you by an all star British cast. With music by Oasis and various comical kareoke songs, this film will have you laughing and wincing at the same time, my favourite watch over and over type of film.

|
| 22 |
Another excellent film from Shane Meadows and another outstanding performance for Paddy Considine. This film manages to lure you into a false sense of security and then shocks you. Again, gritty, realistic something that seems to be a pattern for Shane Meadows.

Another great from Tarantino. Who hasn't seen this film?
|
|
| 24 |
An absolute masterpiece, old style gangster film, with a lot of character.

The more you know about serial killers the better you will find this film. Such a great concept for a serial killer film, I have watched this over and over and I never fail to enjoy it or notice something different about it.
Although a small part played by Harry Connick Jr, he captured the character superbly.
VERDICT: For people who enjoy this genre, a must see

Fantastic performances by all, a great film based on a true story

As someone with a psychological interest in killers, I found this documentary most facsinating, anyone who enjoyed the film Monster and would like to see the real Aileen would find this interesting

One of my old favourites, the best part Dustin Holfman has ever played. It gave an insight to the world into Autism.

With part of the same cast as Lock, Stock and of course appearances by Brad Pitt and Benico Del Torro, this film shares the same principles of Lock, Stock, whilst raising the stakes. Themed with unlicensed fighting, this film takes you into a part of the criminal underworld, rarely shared. The characters are again developed well and intertwine nicely and comically.

A very well put together story, intertwining the lifes of several people who have become involved in an escalation of events. The film that made Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham a name. Great characterisation used and good use of soundtrack. A film I never seem to get bored of watching.
|
|
| 31 |
My favourite of Colin Farrell's films, this is a great storyline, I really enjoyed it.
|
|
| 32 |
The part that Charlize Theron plays in this film is truly amazing. Having seen the documentaries of the real Aileen Wournos, you see the hard work Charlize put in for this part. The film itself takes you on the journey Aileen took up to and after the killings that took place, it leaves you making your own mind about why she became the killer she turned out to be

Crash
(1997, NC-17)
Brillient! A mixture of seperate stories that somehow roll into eachothers, I can see why this chosen as one of the best films of the year

A re-watch for me and still one of the only films that manages to give me a lump in my throat. This film is just fantastic from the plot, to the acting, it just goes to show what can happen from a simple idea

Not your average Steven Spielberg film, this powerful masterpiece captures a horific tale of control displayed in a number of different ways.
This film remains a timeless classic due to the era that it's set in.
This should be on the list of anyone who calls themself a film fanatic.
|
|
| 36 |
One of the most outstanding films ever made. Brilliently written, well casted, by Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins.
Adaped from book to film, each twist accurately calculated, which will not fail to bring a smile to your face. A very powerful on screen relationship between the two main characters, which only adds to the depth of this amazing tale.
VERDICT: For the small minority that haven't seen this film, be prepared to be blown away.
|

A film I'm really fond of, I remember the first tim of watching this, at the beginning I thougt it was going to be a rip off of Rain Man, but Sean Penn made this character his own and the onscreen relationship between him and Dakota was pure chemistry. The story itself makes you ponder the dilemma, whilst also bringing a smile to your face.

I think this has to be my favourite Jim Carrey film. It's so entertaining, one you can watch over and over
|
|
| 39 |
My favourite tragic romance film, I particularly enjoy the native Indian influence in this film. I can't say any more without giveing the plot away to those who haven't seen this film, but it's a great journey of three brothers, who are each unique.

An intriguing and revealing story about a man on death row. Both Spacey and Linney play fantastic roles, the plot holds you from start to finish and has clever twists
|
|
| 41 |
Jack the Ripper still remains a mystery to us and this film depicts a theory as to who Jack the Ripper was. If you haven't an interest in this Genre, this is a great film.
|
|
| 42 |
I prefer Brad Pitt when he's playing more grotesque characters like this. Juliette Lewis is great in pretty much everything and the storyline is very good. If you like those Serial Killer films, you'll like this one

Fantastic!
If you've ever wondered what would have happened if you could go back and change something you've done, then you must see this film.
This film held my attention from start to finish. It must be my fourth viewing and certainly not my last. It's so cleverly written.
This becomes powerfully emotional towards the end and leaves you something to think about

|

This film is probably the most emotionally powerful film I've ever watched. If this doesn't pull at your heart strings nothing will.
