I'm looking for friends with similar interests. I love to chat about movies, including debating the merits of them. Feel free to add me as a friend! :-) I'm an advocate for B-flicks and such. You'll see skins, photos and reviews from me popping up for such movies. ;-) PLEASE DO NOT "COMMENT" ON MOVIES UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO SAY. Think about it.. what does a comment like "Good" or "Funny" contribute when your star rating reflects it? You should at least come up with a couple of sentences stating why something is "good" or "funny". When a friend asks you about a movie, do you just say "good" or "funny" to him/her? Pretend you are trying to convince someone to either watch or avoid a movie. THAT is what reviews are for!! If you don't have something constructive to say, LEAVE IT BLANK. It's completely optional. All you are doing is skewing your review count and ultimately making yourself look bad because you can't think of anything to say. ALSO: I delete ALL widgets that are left on my wall. They cause too much lag, and I really don't need to hear 5 songs playing simultaneously. -------------------------------------------- I'm married to Samantha F (ladyayukawa) -------------------------------------------- FYI: I may be new on Flixster, but I'm a member of many other places and have been on the internet since the beginning of 1998. Most of my memberships are 5-7 years old. -------------------------------------------- For those of you who don't like The Super Mario Bros movie, check out these links: * Why the Super Mario movie is an underappreciated masterpiece * The Super Mario Bros. The 10th Kingdom
Unrated
The most spectacular fantasy/fairy tale production ever. The sheer scope of it is breathtaking. With an all-star cast, multitudes of locations, seamless special effects and more, this is a mini-series not to be missed. Every cast member did a fantastic job with their roles. You feel for each one of them and believe who they are playing. Combine that with the detailed scenery and sets, as well as the special effects, and it's easy to become entranced while watching. The storyline has many interesting twists and turns that keeps it from becoming predictable. This series takes the entire fairy tale genre to the next level. It's highly doubtful that any other can compare. It's unfortunate that a sequel is not planned. If you enjoyed this mini-series, be sure to write letters advocating for a sequel. I own the DVD set and watch it whenever I have the spare time. It's a beautiful series that will be a permanent part of my collection.

The Super Mario Bros.
PG
Sure, for a game-to-movie, it didn't do so well. However, since when has such a thing worked out 100%? For that matter, most "based on" movies take so many creative liberties that only the IDEA is from the original. Frankly, I find this "rendition" quite pleasing. It wasn't even close to being like the game, but it stands on its own. I don't even think the game could be made into a movie and come out right. Even the 3D game sequels are nothing like the originals. The movie is still entertaining with unique characters, plenty of game references, elaborate sets and more. It's disappointing that it was such a bomb because I still anticipate a sequel. I bought the original VHS when it came out for $19.99. I have watched it many times. I just watched it again a couple of days ago. I fully intend on getting the DVD soon. If you think badly of the movie, please watch it again. But this time, watch it as just a movie instead of trying to compare it to the game.

The Goonies
PG
An Eighties classic that virtually no one can not love. The characters are so unique and varied, more so than most movies nowadays. Add in every kid's fantasy of treasure hunting that results in plenty of action and comedy and you have a defining film of the Eighties. This movie never gets old for me.
