A very rare realistic film about a honest cop. Al Pacino shines with this unprecedented role of a dynamic cop who believes in loyalty & integrity at a time when NYPD had a sophisticated chain of corrupt cops. Al Pacino depicts Frank Serpico's non-brutal ways to catch the guilty & his adamant nature of restraining to join those corrupt officers. Apart from that he also had the balls of steel to testify against the whole unit of corrupt cops. Sidney Lumet by far has directed this true life story into a masterpiece. It's a pretty slow drama & not many would wait & watch it till the end, but i would say that you got to be patient as most drama movie's possess scripts which could mesmerize you at the very last moment. True Facts:- Frank Serpico was the only officer in the history of New York Police Department to testify openly about widespread, systematic cop corruption-payoffs amounting to millions of dollars. I'm certain that no one else could do this impeccable role. Priceless !! |
