Pandorum - R Lacked anything new or interesting. Imagine Alien without the decent plot and acting. January 5, 2010

The Invention of Lying - PG-13 Gervais tries and fails at acting. Not for the first time. He's a good writer and should stick to that. This should never have been made into a film. The script is funny but the actual film and execution leaves a lot to be desired. Expected more from Gervais, didn't think he's stoop low and go all Hollywood on us. January 5, 2010

Inglourious Basterds - R Typical Tarantino flick, witty lines, stereotypical characters but a very good and original storyline. Moved well and thought overall it did a decent job of entertaining. Waltz's did a splendid job playing the "Jew" hunter. November 19, 2009

Zombieland - R It has Zombies, but doesn't quite get into making a decision whether it wants to be a zombie blood fest or a spoofy funny zombie flick. In the end it just ends up being a mashup of both, and frankly not that interesting. I wouldn't want to see it again, whereas something like Shaun of the Dead I would. November 8, 2009

Moon - R Sam Rockwell does an impressive job carrying this. Sci-Fi fans should love it for the atmosphere it creates and the steady moving pace of the whole film - nostalgic at times, but then again Space always seems slower. November 1, 2009

The Tournament - R apart from the cliche and predictable storyilne it was pretty amateur acting, and to be honest directing and production were pretty poor too. Just watched for some of the action scenes. Kelly Hu does a decent job with her martial arts to keep this alive till the end. October 31, 2009

9 - PG-13 Didn't know what was going on here, too slow, confusing and fell asleep. Another film that promised much but delivered little. October 31, 2009

Surrogates - PG-13 Pretty predictable and mild. Didn't really get going I thought. October 19, 2009

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 - R Washington and Travolta do their best to turn what is pretty much an average film. With the stereotypical hostage negotiation scenario I wasn't expecting much action, but what was on offer was very minimal. There is no real suspense in the movie itself. Whilst Ryder (Travolta) comes across as a no nonsense hostage taker, his persona slowly deteriorates into your usual bad guy syndrome.

This is definitely not a blockbuster, for those expecting it to be should look elsewhere.

Star Trek - PG-13 I was expecting it to be poor. But having watched it (in HD) it was pretty awesome. Special effects were as expected awesome. The acting not so bad with the characters being played up to scratch.

Don't worry about that time, space, continuum malarkey and accuracies just enjoy it.

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra - PG-13 As expected, another good hero ruined by Hollywood. Poor acting, plot, predictable and shoddy Special Effects. October 2, 2009

Ali - R Smith doesn't quite convince being Ali, he just doesn't have the ability to play such a great Icon. the film itself is pretty good, although focuses much more on Ali's life up until he regains the World Heavyweight title the first time. The Rumble in the jungle could have been a lot more interesting if like in real life Ali took to the streets, laughed and joked with the locals, instead concentrating on something more ambiguous as hardships in Zaire. Didn't feel that was really necessary.

Worth a watch for Ali and Smith fans and perhaps boxing fans, although Smith's attempts at looking as quick, powerful and charismatic as Ali himself falls well short of that.

State of Play - PG-13 Slightly too long and very slow. The story was predictable, needed something special and out of the ordinary to make it stand out in this particular genre. Body of Lies is perhaps a better option. September 26, 2009

Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked) - R Great music (obviously), characters and a well made film. With a great cast it does what it should do; make you laugh, smile and groove to it. Not complicated at all. Now to find the damn Soundtrack to this! September 25, 2009

Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel - Unrated Didn't quite peak my interest, but still watched on. In the end it wasn't that impressive. Even Sci Fi fans wouldn't really enjoy this. September 25, 2009

Blood: The Last Vampire - R Poor special effects, typical storyline (altered) and a bad case of poor Engrish lets this down. I would expect proper English from a 400+ year old vampire. As expected this was very poor. Decent action scenes but the fake CGI blood ruins it. September 25, 2009

Next Day Air - R Highly predictable, clichéd and stereotyped to an extent. Generally the movie was OK to watch, the ending could have been longer and more intensity needed to get the viewer fully into the movie. One for the bored evening. September 17, 2009

Year One - PG-13 This isn't quit up to the levels of Nacho Libre in terms of plot, story, humour and action. Found there were too many one liners and the overall movie to be slightly scattered. Might have to watch again, admittedly was tired and sleepy, the movie didn't help. September 13, 2009

Outlander - R This felt a bit patchy and the mix of Stone Age and future tech just didn't quite mix. Action scenes weren't that good either. Had high hopes for this, but didn't really excite much once it started. September 8, 2009

District 9 - R Haven't seen a decent Sci-Fi movie in years, this goes a long way of filling that void. Shaky camera was pretty annoying in the start, but after it calmed down, the movie flowed very nicely.

Will recommend it! I hope there's a sequel coming!

Australia - PG-13 Was expecting a 3 hour bore-fest to be honest, but it actually turned out to be decent. Needed less of the military side of things to make it an epic. Cinematography was awesome, and there was quite a bit of charm in Kidman's acting, but the dreaded teary-eyed look was always there.

Overall worth a watch, if anything for the great picture.

Hotel Rwanda - PG-13 Movie missed a lot of tension, much needed in movies like these. Don Cheedle's accent as always seems to be dodgy (see Oceans 11 etc). On the whole worth a watch, but predictable and not involving enough. Found myself drifting away at times. August 31, 2009

Dance Flick - PG-13 This sort of genre needs something new, as good as the Wayans are at making spoof movies, this is found lacking. Too predictable and at times dragging. Decent beats and some funny moves make up for it. August 30, 2009

Brüno (Bruno) - R Borat was funny and stupid, this is really bad and awful, not funny as I would have hoped. Many scenes worthy of cringing, for many reasons. August 29, 2009

Ip Man (Yip Man) - Unrated Not over the top action, more biographical and well incorporated story with a blend of action, wit and drama.

Stands out from the nonsensical kung-fu flick with too much action.
