The Day the Earth Stood Still - PG-13 I was disappointed in this movie. The story doesn't compare to the original. It lacked character development and the empathy factor. The effects and music were fine. January 4, 2009

Yes Man - PG-13 I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It was a compelling story and Jim Carrey and Zoey Deschanel were great. It was funny yet not typically Jim Carrey off the wall zany. January 4, 2009

Valkyrie - PG-13 This is a well-made movie recounts a German military plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, a seldom told event in the history of WWII. It's suspenseful and the performances of the supporting cast are ecxellent . I had a problem with Tom Cruise. He shouldn't do period films. He comes across as too contempoary and doesn't fit. All other elements of the film are superb. January 4, 2009

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - PG-13 I enjoyed this movie but I had problems witha some the it's elelments. ie the backwards clock. hurricane Katrina to name two. These were uneeded contrivances. The acting was fantastic. The story was engrossing, heartwarming and heartbreaking. The special effects (Pitt's aging old to young process), the cinematography, and the music were outstanding. I think this movie deserves to be nominated for Oscars in many catergories. W. - PG-13 I saw this movie because I'd read that it was going to be an apolitical, unbiased portrayal of the current chief executive. Wrong! I take no political side on the subject of this movie but what was shown was pure buffoonery! This caused me to think this was another attempt by Oliver Stone to sway people to his own take on history ala JFK. November 29, 2008

Burn After Reading - R I really liked this movie. It was funny and serious at the same time. George Clooney and Brad Pitt were fantastic. I love the Coen brothers and once again they didn't disappoint me. November 29, 2008

Changeling - R This was a very engrossing movie. I really felt for what Angelina Jolie's character was going through. Fantastic cinematography and the depiction of 1920's Los Angeles was outstanding. Jolie and the rest of the cast gave gripping performances. Especially first rate were performances of the child actors in this movie. November 29, 2008

Australia - PG-13 A few things in this movie bothered me, but all in all it was rather enjoyable. The first part was confusing and the acting was overdone. It seemed farsical. But once I knew who the good guys and the bad guys were then I became involved in the story. Some parts of the movie were very predictable such as which characters were going to die and the child's situation. And some aspects were very stereotypical such as the whole mysticism angle of the aborigines, the use of played out local colloquialisms and "Waltzing Matilda", and the Wizard of Oz references. Into the Wild - R A great movie. First rate performances by the entire cast. Emil Hirsch was robbed of an Oscar nomination as was the entire film. Excellent music by Eddie Vedder. August 31, 2008

The Fall - R This was a fantastic movie. It was heartwarming, dreamlike, and compelling. I love Lee Pace from ABC's "Pushing Daisies" and he was wonderful as a silent film era stuntman hopitalized due to an accidental fall. With his future questionable he finds escape by telling fatastical stories to entertain a little girl patient he befriends. In this role, Romanian child actress Catinca Untaru steals the film. This was a very satisfying movie. July 24, 2008

Get Smart - PG-13 This movie was a letdown for me. I loved the old TV show and it's stars Don Adams and Barbara Feldon. This movie didn't have the same tone as the show. Steve Carrell is a great comedic actor but as Mexwell Smarrt he wasn't convincing. It was just an okay movie and had some funny moments. July 24, 2008

The Dark Knight - PG-13 Awesome sequel. Visually stunning. Performances are all outstanding. Heath Ledger as the Joker lives up to all the expectations. Makes his death seem all the more tragic. I highly reccommend this movie! July 24, 2008
