Ok. So here's me.
Laid back. Loves a good laugh. I must say I fancy myself to be an odd individual. I mean I liked Eraserhead. I thought it was an inspired movie! If anyone in this planet agrees please post a message! It is like a symptom of being insane liking Lynch movies... But I am into the surreal!!! I am into deep and thinkingful stuff.... If a tree falls in the woods and no one is hear it, do the other trees laugh at it? Well. I also love music. It took me so long to find this place let alone a music site, so I guess I am stuck here chatting my life away about movies. Bear in mind that I give semi-full reviews. I mean it's easy enough to see that a person thinks a movie is "Good" or "Funny". We can actually see the star ratings for ourselves thanks. ^_^ I am a sheep, and have a widgit. Ok burn me at the stake then.
My favourite genres: Film Noir. I love the feeling you get watching a clever film noir. Chilling. Arthouse: I guess you can call that a genre? Comedy: Clever satire only. If a thousand monkeys on a thousand typewriters can produce the complete works of Shakespeare, why did they get just two to write Date Movie? Action: It has to be filthy, violent, but greatly acted. John McClane is my idol. Horror: I want to be genuinely scared. I don't want to be puking my spleen out. Drama: There is good and there is bad. An identifiable storyline is always good. Foreign: Everything but comedy. I find sense of humour changes through nationality. Historical or period pieces: Great! Period. Except for Sparticus. For obvious reasons. Fantasy: I want a pet unicorn. And my feet are hairy. And thats all I have to say Sci-fi: Plausable sci-fi. Though I don't think that really exists. But I heart Robots! Animation: Funnier than most comedies nowadays. That is my rant on my movie styling favourites. I think I shall stop there. According to some generic test, I am: ![]()

The Laramie Project is one the most touching plays that I've seen.
And I think part of it was the context.
I live in a small town, filled with people that make racist, sexist, and homophobic quips all the time. It was more than uncool to be a "homosexual".
Then the drama troupe at the college put on this play.
Ideals change, bigotry falls, and the idea of acceptance prevails.
The movie version of the play captures the magic that the Tectonic players saught to show, a "true" acount of the events proceding the death of Matthew Shephard.
Great cast, most slipping into their respective roles seamlessly, and the news reports cutting in wonderfully.
It's not quite as hard hitting as you'd, it's not soul crushing, but it does put ideas of homophobia into perspective.
But it does beg to wonder, what parts of the story were ommited when Moises put the show together at the start?

We've seen this movie time and time again.. but do I really care?
No.
It's Liam Neeson kicking ass!
You better be hapless and predictable movie, or I'll be disappointed!

Hollywood loves Frank Miller.
And well, so do I.
I feel like such a geek admitting I've got so many graphic novels from him..
But I don't have this one, and I've got no idea about the story on this.
It's some post-noir CGI concoction probably.. And I'll probably think that employing live actors was a waste of time, but hey... Give it a chance?
Sure.

I always thought that this was a daft book. It was boring and slow in all the wrong places, but I did however believe that it could be done well as a movie.
I've grown to think that I'm wrong, and it's gonna be just some more Hollywood bullshit.. but I'll take a look anyway.
Bangkok Dangerous

I'm scared of this remake.
Scared because, I think most of why I liked the original was it's slick Thai allure.
Cage better be all "Gone in 60 Seconds" if this film's gonna work...
..again.

Not one of my favourites of Chuck, but I have high hopes for this film. I'm gonna be pissed if it's not as faithful to the book as Fight Club was.
Now they can go and make the film to Survivor.

Donnie Darko
R
This movie here:
You will love it.
Or
You will hate it.
Donnie is a seriously troubled teen.
Plagued by a vision of a macabre rabbit, which convinces him to do a series of petty crimes after a near death experience. Going down this dark path it leads him to a greater understanding of the world and time and the chaos theory. Not for every one, this movie plays at our minds at many different levels. Jake Gyllenhaal is definitely going to be the next most sought after actor in Hollywood.
I think that no matter how weird Jakes character seems, we are able to identify with him somehow. He is the misfit, the little bit odd one that people want to now, but are too scared to talk to. In a way the writers and directors played on cinemas archetypal characters here: The concerned teacher, sibling rivalry, the concerned mother, and the motivational speaker that should heed his own advice. But the Director Richard Kelly, shows a fresh spin on these characters, showing the levels of a person when put into an odd situation. For that, and many others, it gets my 5 star seal of approval.
It's one of those movies that repeatedly you will pick out new bits of information that you didn't realise the previous time.

The Departed
R
Amazing movie. Stellar cast and fantastic cinematography.Although not an original, most of normal cinema going people will be none the wiser that this is not the most original, yet ironic, movie in many years. Just bear in mind, if you have seen the original note that so has Martin Scorsese... Many times it seems.
Having so many stars sometimes can set you up for a fall (What ever you do, do not see Hurlyburly). Over acting and egos could be an issue.
But, This movie rises valiantly above this to be the best-acted film of 2006.It's darkly engaging. A trademark of Martin Scorsese is black humour that he puts in the most inappropriate places. Watching it at the movies I felt ashamed that I had laughed as such things...
Jack Nicholson was fantastic. That's the only way to describe him. He was dark and malice, and the most ruthless part I?ve seen him portray in a modern movie. I always like Leonardo DiCaprio, he is an amazing actor, and in the Departed he doesn't fail to please. Neither does Matt Damon for that matter, slipping comfortably into their roles. My favourite character though, is the part of the cop, played by Mark Walberg. He is sarcastic and smart-ass. He gives a dark comedy aspect to the move, but when it comes down to it really delivers on his performance. It is plain to see that Martin Scorsese does a lot with his actors to bring out a chemistry between them. We can feel that the characters are immersing in their parts whole heartedly (which is quite a scary thought for the likes of Jack Nicholson).
Great plot + Fantastic actors + Amazing director = Very good film

Apocalypse Now
R
War movies generally annoy me.1. The characters are unbelievably stereotypical. Often cold and showing little chance of having a character, other than that emotional letter from the wife at home.
2. The plot is dry and constricted. We know the war is bad, but come on, show us just how bad.
3. Emphasis is put on those who don't deserve it. The heroes that look just as good coming out as the did coming in.
We need more Lt. Dans'These preconceived ideas were shattered after watching Apocalypse Now. It is a seriously unglamorous portrayal in part of Americas darkest days.
Francis Ford Coppola delivers this dank and brooding Vietnam war movie in such a way only he can achieve. This movie grabs you by the throat and will not release it's grip. From start to finish we become engrossed in the characters turmoil and strife which is representative of the USA views at the time. Soldiers are human too.
If thinking about watching a war movie, watch this one.

Monty Python's And Now for Something Completely Different
PG
There are no superlatives. I cannot converse with any person that does not find Monty Python at all funny. Seriously. If you don't like them go away. Wanting light hearted comedy that will keep you in stitches from start to finish? Rent this. That is all that needs to be said. Period.

Wanted
by UserWesley: This is not me... this is just a motherfucking decoy.
This is definitely one of the most entertaining films to have come out this year. And by "entertain", I mean mindless, campy, fun and reeks of awesomeness. "Wanted" maybe filled with plot holes as big as Jupiter but at least they made it up in the area of visual style served with a side platter of sizzling action. There's a lot of cussing too. And they got Morgan Freeman to say the word "Motherfucker", how cool is that? Initially, I would have given this a four but hearing Morgan Freeman cuss is just priceless.
The car chase scenes would make Speed Racer proud, the bullets have minds of their own and lead actor James McAvoy masterfully disguises his British accent to embody the perfect American loser turned bad ass. This is what makes this film so damn irresistible. Top to that you have natural born fly guy Thomas Kretschmann in a very crucial role to the film plus Angelina Jolie in her bad ass form. Seriously, she was born to be a bad ass in films. That's why I loved Mr. and Mrs. Smith, she has this natural spunk in her which makes her cool without even trying. I think its the look and those lips.
Now I know a lot of people dissed the film because its a) a rip-off, b) the story doesn't make sense and c) it is pretty stupid. That's probably because you didn't leave your pseudo-intellectual mindset right at the doorstep. Films like these, you don't have to take seriously. And I quote The Joker on this one: "Why so serious?"
Take it for what it is: a very entertaining film and I think you'll be alright. Now, don't just fucking sit there reading this bullshit and I highly fucking suggest you fucking go see this one. Like, right fucking now.

The Bank Job
by KhrisAn interesting piece of film-making... which is pretty entertaining. Once you get past the sleazy and shameless sex, you would realise that it actually made some sense as to the WHY. Based on a true story of sorts, its an interesting take on the Baker Street Bank Robbery which caused a sensation and had Parliment and MI5 going nuts.
Jason Statham goes back home and back in time to 1971 as a small time criminal who tried to hit the big time by robbing Lloyd's Bank and hits big trouble in the form of government scandals, corruption and just about everyone from the MI5 to a local porn king/gangster AND a psychotic Rasta drug dealer out to nail him and his crew.
I guess the great thing about this movie was the authenticity. 1971 London does come alive, and its not something we see often in movies these days, seeing a world city in a different time, not so far back as to call it ancient history, but more so enough to appreciate what its like and how everything has changed radically, from cars to technology to clothing and styles and lifestyle.
You have to appreciate the story and the tension which the crew go through. This is one of Statham's better movies, and the rest of the cast are..... British. XD
Yeah its the same ole thing for all you guys who don't understand a world of the British language. If you could get past the language or are familiar with it (like me) then you can follow the movie quite easily. Which is something else which I liked about it. Its not meant to be an all out twister, a movie trying to out do itself and others of higher grade, but a simple reworking of an event brought to the big screen with a few thrills along the way. In the tradition of movies such as The Italian Job, The Score and other tales of thieves, this would have to be on of the better flicks to watch.Hey, you should really see this!
