Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
PG-13
Michael Bay thinks of Dynamites, ILM and badass Cars when Paramount green lights the Transformers sequel, other than a Perfect Script. The Movie consists 50 robots in 147 mins running time, 100 ft tall giants banging in super shaky cam, annoying screen characters, chiwawa humping a Pitbull frm the back, A Decepticon humping Megan Fox's legs, & two ugly robots who won the Jah Jah Binks awards of 2009. So the question is, Is it the worst movie of the summer? Possibly. Will everybody see it? Probably. The whole summary is... Big amount of visual effects, Enormous Explosions, pointless Plot, annoying Mama & one hot chick.
Drag Me to Hell
PG-13
Sam Raimi is back with a blast. It's more Entertaing than Scary, proves that Raimi's visions truely belongs to the Horror franchise. This is what he meant his movie to be and this is what it is. Even if Drag Me to Hell isn't particularly scary, even if it idly disregards its potential, it's been a long time since a horror movie of such obvious wit and loving theatrics hit theaters, highly recommanded, Solid 93% on RT meter & Roger Ebert likes it, what you'll need more ?

The Shining
R
Well....it's Stanley Kubrick, and he's the Best.It is no doubt that this Movie stands as one of the Best Horror Movies ever made on screen.& Stephen King Gee....he's magnificent.Love the scene when Danny saw two sisters on the corridor,Camera works were priceless on that kid's tricycle. Some movies like, the Amityvillie remake, when the movie changes from Ghosts to Psycho Killer, the crowd may gone wild. But unlike any horror movies, the shining slices up the Demons & Psychos perfectly. Not too realistic, not too mystery, that bond was just perfect. While 1408 is just a short story,The Shining is a major Novel written by the same guy. That's why this movie stands as the Best Stephen King's book on screen Horror Movie.
2.
Cloverfield
PG-13
OK....No big words, this movie is "a Must-See",whether you're a Horror fan or monster fan,Shaky camera lover or You just wanted to see a Movie with a different taste.
The Movie opens with some TV stuffs & some Government property approvals like it had been viewed by some Authorities. Then it continues the whole movie with a hand-held video footage, via from the view of a group of New Yorkers.
Even it's screen ratio is a ratio that said a goodbye to Hollywood Movies a long time ago.& it does worked out beautifully.
So what is the monster?,a Whale?,an Old schooled Godzilla?,A video game based creature?No....this one is invented by J.J Abrams & his team.Let me call it the cloverfield monster as it is still unnamed. The monster is super big, angry, ruthless, loud, strong & can say pretty fast for his size. It's hands are more like the extra legs which are extending from its body, plus the super big mouth with gruesome teeth. It also drops lots of spider-like mini creatures which are also fast & furious.Their bites can even cause some unknown infections, which the story didn't show very much.
Unlike "The Blair Witch Project",this movie is shown exactly from a single view.My ears were bleeding in the scenes like the soldiers shooting down the Monster in the middle of the streets. Some dudes even left the cinema hall because of those super shaky cameras.Unfortunately, this is kind of monster movie I have been waiting for years,So it was kinda thrill ride for me."The Fake Monster Documentary" I must say.
This movie is not only about a monster attacking NYC,it also includes a tragic Love story between Rob Hawkins & Beth McIntyre, two of the main characters. They uses some cut-offs & flashbacks, which looks stylish & beautiful. They ended up under the bridge, screaming "I Love You" for a couple times. The story seems quite fast after the death scene of Hud,the main camera holder of the Movie. They must extend about 15 or 20 minutes more to give us the maximum satisfaction.
Extra Props must be given to the End Credits. They are the best I've seen since last year's Michael Clayton.A bass tone become louder & louder & then mixed with lots of string instruments. That music theme is the one & the only music in this movie & it's quite thrilling.So....there you go Director Matt Reeves,a big boost for you.

The Dark Knight
PG-13
Jim Gordon: " Harvey, where's my family?" Harvey Dent: "where my family died." I skipped my 2 hrs class just to watch The Dark Knight before it's too damn crowded, & it's worth the Hell... It's simply the best Movie of 2008 so far & without a doubt the best superhero Movie ever made. The Movie proves that a born filmmaker can improve a comic book genre that has been existed for a decades ago into a Movie genre that will make everyone think that Comic book Movies are no more kiddie stuff. I was blown away by the Actors' performances especially the late Heath Ledger's. His Joker performance is nothing but an Oscar worthy, simply making Jack Nicholson's Joker performance to be nominated for a Razzie. & yes, that tragic Death faking scene is uncut, felt a little sad for him when I saw that scene.I have personally watched The Dark Knight 6 times & I still have a plan to watch it again. Can anyone believe I've spent over $100 on this Movie, including T-shirt, Movie tickets & Pop corns. If you haven't seen it even until now, maybe it's now the time to grab a ticket , & you'll know why it tops IMDB's top 250. Movie marketings says "I Believe In Harvey Dent" & I say " I Believe in Nolan",no.."I believe in Nolans", the brothers are now becoming two of the best guys making Movies in these days. Words cannot describe how good this Movie is. Highest Resolution Camera, Oscar worthy performances, A good storyline & U must admit the this movie brings the most tragic Love story of the summer 2008, between Harvey Dent & Rachael Dawes. Moreover, stunning visual & sound effects, a non-stop 2:30 hrs ride, & simply challenging other superhero genres to make one like this or even closer to this. What you'll need more for a Movie??? << "You see, nobody panics when things go according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying. If I told people that , tomorrow a gangbanger is going to get shot, or a truckload of soldiers are going to get blown up, nobody would panic because it's all part of the plan. But tell people that one tiny little mayor is going to die and everyone loses their minds!" >>

Across the Universe
PG-13
A young man from England comes across the Atlantic to find his Father. No education,no future but after helping a high class dude,he found himself involved with an American way of life.Forget the Liverpool girl, get a new one.She is a politician while he is an amateur Artist. They got split up.Then met again. That's the reason why critics didn't enjoy this Movie very much. The can't just make the story a little more exciting. But who cares.....?If the Music is great,& if the style is different from other Musical Movies, just leave that story otta your mind. I thought they gonna kill the Music. But they're not. They successfully carried it from 60's to the 00's.The Smiles came out when every characters start to sing each song, cos they got it right to the story. There was one scene,Half-Naked soldiers carrying the statue of liberty, walking on the muddy little plum trees & singing"She is so Heavy, she is so Heavy".That scene is really strange, how the hell they got those ideas?Hope the Beatles gonna enjoyed it very much, including John Lennon. Bono....Bono.....his scene is just a mind blowing, but it didn't blown me off.It looks awesome though. So,There were three great Musical Movies released in 2007,Hair Spray,Sweeny & Universe,& this is one of them. One of the Best Musicals.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
R
Brad Pitt & Casey Affleck,my favorite duo of 2007. Both performances are beyond awesome, especially Casey Affleck,he's gonna hold an Oscar award earlier than is brother. The story is needless to say as the title describes all."The Assassination.....".It's about the last days of the 19th century Robin Hood,Jesse James. How he was assassinated by his die hard fan,Robert Ford. This 2 hr & 45 min Movie is deeply & constantly moving, building up the emotions till the end.A historic assassination that was never brought up on screen before,& Andrew Dominik did it in an admirable way.Who ever thought the hands of an Aussie director can make a western Movie in a new taste. The Cinematographic,am I been too care for Cinematographic or it is really need to be care about?"The Assassination..." deserves an Oscar for both Cinematographic & Casey Affleck. Those camera works are the only ones that make this Movie different from any other assassination Movies or Westerns. Most shots are combined with dreamy & beautiful landscapes. The dialog scenes look clear & emotional, especially the ones between Jesse & Bob. From now on my eyes will be on Director Andrew Dominik as this is his second feature Film & it looks damn good.Highly Recommended.

Oldboy
R
I'm giving 5 stars for it's originality. There are lots & lots of revenge Movies making nowadays,Hollywood,Bollywood, you name it.I've never watched Chan-wook Park Movies before,& Oldboy hit me hard. Oh Daesu is an ordinary man living with his wife & his 3 years old daughter. He was then mysteriously taken and imprisoned in a private prison. They provide a bed,a barthroom, daily meals & a T.V.At night, music tone comes off followed by some Russian Gases that were used on prisoners. He then fall asleep, had a hair cut & hypnotized. His life continues exactly like this for 15 long years. He was then released with a phone & a wallet full of cash.He still had no idea who prisoned him.He then realized that he is the top suspect on the death of his wife. His daughter was also adopted by some Europe parents.Once a drunken man became a man of vengence. The Movie take you slowly to the ending scene,a scene that reveals all the secrets of the Movie.Who prisoned Oh Dsesu? Why he prisoned him?But "Who" had been described since the pre-middle parts,a rich man named Lee Woo-jin,that looks like an ordinary 25 years old man."Why" is simple but strange.& the main twist of this movie is "How".In what way Lee Woo-jin takes revenge on Oh Daesu.Revealing that twist will be like watching "Saw" & knowing that Tobin Bell is lying on the bathroom floor. The Movie itself is Violently & Sexully explict.& there is a scene where Oh Daesu fight against many baddies along the corridor. It's a non-stop,single camera shot, which looks so real.So....what is the Oldboy?Better judge yourself....

Knowing
by FabioThis is a suspenseful story, part science fiction, part thriller, which will challenge viewers to decide what they believe in the aforementioned debate. And unlike the sensation we find in some suspense stories, viewers won't have to suspend much belief to go along for the ride. John's journey happens step be step, each event happening in perfectly logical order. Is John creating his own story or is he just following the steps laid out for him long ago?
I enjoyed the movie all the way right up until they made it a bit too unrealistic at the end. Once you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about...it was an interesting mix of both hope and loss.
The disaster scenes were grisly and disturbing. Cage did a great job of post-traumatic shock that was played just right.Hey, you should really see this!

Black Hawk Down
by FabioOne of the strongest experience I had by seeing a war film.
I absolutely love this movie because it shows us how much these men go through to try and make the world a better place.
This movie so realistically captures the two different styles of war (USA and Somalia); one being incredibly organized and technically superior, and the other being disorganized but fighting with reckless abandon. The gunfire-scenes are amazing as are the injuries and the treatment of them.
It wasn't may be that massacre that in Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan was, but some shots are rather disgusting.
A must-see for anyone thinking war is glorious.Hey, you should really see this!

Pride and Glory
by FabioThis movie had a very strong script that felt very honest & humble, and what I mean by that is, it didn't need/rely on any extravagant twists/turns in order for it be interesting and suspenseful. It managed to intrigue and excite with a single plot.
The performance given by the actors in this film is what gives it the extra quality that makes it an especially good and entertaining movie. They all live up to their names/status and deliver solid performances that remind us why they're A-list actors. It's also worth mentioning that the supporting actors/actresses are equally impressive.
In conclusion, this was a great movie and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially action/drama fans.
Buuut it's not a classic like Serpico.Hey, you should really see this!

Public Enemies
by MarkDecent historical crime drama about John Dillinger and the efforts of J. Edgar Hoover's developing FBI to stop him. Classy production design beautifully recreating the 1930s is undermined by a less than compelling plot. It ultimately builds to an interesting climax, but most the action before that is rather spiritless. Unquestionably an improvement over Michael Mann's last film Miami Vice. Also of note is actress Marion Cotillard as Dillinger's girlfriend Billie Frechette.
