The Music Man The Music Man

Meredith Wilson's sparkling filmization of the landmark Broadway musical about a traveling con artist salesman and the small town he dupes. Rousing Americana's best asset is Robert Preston's memorable performance as Professor Harold Hill. His sunny portrayal brightens every scene he's in. Virtually one musical number after another, there are moments of the sublime ("Seventy-Six Trombones", "Till There Was You") and the expendable ("Gary, Indiana"). The latter contributes to film's almost unbearable 151 minute running time. A bit of editing and perhaps a less stagebound production would have made this a near-perfect adaptation. Nevertheless those minor infractions are far outweighed by the joyous singing and dancing that is on display in this most appealing musical.

This was an excellent gangster drama, lead by Johnny Depp as John Dillinger with an outstanding supporting cast of fellow gangsters and desperadoes, but what really made the film work were the "G" Men pursuing Dillinger. Christian Bale was perfectly cast as "G" Man Melvin Purvis, who ran the Chicago Office of the FBI. Billy Crudup was also great as J. Edgar Hoover, portrayed as a ruthless administrator willing to stoop to any depth to catch Dillinger, including rounding up family members and deporting friends of Dillinger unless they were willing to cooperate. None of the Oliver Stone fantasies about Hoover in a dress, but the Hoover who ran the Department with an iron fist.
Michael Mann deserves an Oscar nomination for Best Director and possibly Screenplay (he co-wrote).
A great film, don't miss this one.

Sweetie and I went to see Julie and Julia. What can I say its a great movie. Its about food, love, blogging, perseverance, and loving life.
Meryl Streep steals the show in her portrayal of Julia Child. She is full of life, very animated and not ready to take no for an answer from anybody. I think that Meryl Streep could win an Oscar for this performance.
Stanley Tucci plays the perfect, patient, understanding, supportive husband. Amy Adams does a great job as the frustrated young wife and blogger who seeks to do all of Child's recipes in the course of a year. Chris Messina is the supportive, but sometimes, not so patient husband.

This movie is brilliant! It stars Jack Nicholson as McMurphy, a man that pretends to be crazy to get out of going to prison. He gets sent to a mental institution and finds out about Nurse Ratched, a strict dictator of the patients in the institution. She however, is not so happy about his new look on how things should be. McMurphy makes new friends and goes on many exciting touching, hilarious and downright amazing adventures.
This movie is a classic and will make you laugh, make you cry and keep you gripped until the very end. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest has some great acting performances from Jack Nicholson, Danny De Vito, Brad Dourif, Christopher Lloyd and Louise Fletcher.

Very refreshing to see Al Pacino in a romantic comedy role. He is superb!!!! Al Pacino is one of my favourite actors and being used to see him in intense and controlled roles. It is a nice change to see this different side of him in an acting role. Mr. Pacino handles it adeptly with wit and charm. The on-screen chemistry between Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer is marvelous! They work well together and their roles and actions are very believable in the film.
It is a nice change of pace to see two regular people falling in love and not having all the answers.

so this movie is about 4 survivors. and there is some kind of pandemic going on around the world they dont know what started it. so that is where it really gets hard to follow at one moment you think is there going to be any resident evil type thing going on you dont then your like is it like 28 days later and it kinda is but instead of a happy ending you get an 5 minute ending and not one person says anything everything about this movie was good and you did understand how they felt but it was just weird to have a movie about survivors to be so deep

Are there enough stars here?? No! Is this movie over hyped? No,although I thought it was ,this is the first time I actually was steering clear of reviews, trailers and wanting to know anything about a movie before seeing it.SO it made it even more epic and unreal than what I ever could have imagined. So here is the brass tacks.Should you see this movie the answer is YES,but only in 3-D and only in the theater. This is an experience fore sure the story,is breathtaking and beautiful and the Avatar world that is shown to us so gradually is so much more than your friends are trying to explain to you. This is one that when someone says you have to see it for yourself, its because its completely true.Is it groundbreaking? My God undeniably it sure is! The effects are so smooth and the transitions between the Avatar world and the Human world are seamless. This is really an amazing story.I honestly had not read reviews or watched the trailers for the very reason I wanted to take this whole experience in and not have my head all full of judgment and other peoples ideas and I am glad I stuck with my decision on that. Its a visual masterpiece,I guarantee won't be even half as great on Blu Ray or whatever when that is released.Seriously people,I know times are tight but really treat yourself to this ne,I guarantee you will not be disappointed.By the way there really is something here for everyone,We have the Action,Romance,Special effects, science fiction,my God that's the tip of the iceberg,I cant imagine someone walking away from this movie and not liking it at all...if that's the case they are complete Morons.See it in the theater!!!

    REMAKE COMING NEXT YEAR!

This film was included on the infamous 'Video Nasty' under the title, 'Exposé' aka. "House on Straw Hill". Like a lot of films on the list, this one doesn't feature a great deal in the way of gore. It does have a handful of bloody sequences, but nothing enough to warrant it's banning in my opinion.
Considering that it's a thriller, the film doesn't feature a great deal of tension, but the action is kept engaging by the way that it sets up the storyline. The film moves slowly, but in doing so is allowed time to let its characters grow and the plot to build.
A good exploitation thriller that will entertain and even surprise you on more than one occasion.
