Journey to the Center of the Earth (Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D) - PG

Photobucket

Directed By Eric Brevig
Starring Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson, Anita Briem
A New Line Cinema Productions

It may seems boring on 2D screens, but on 3D, it'll be the coolest thing you'll ever seen. Watching The Joker blowing the Cars on IMAX screen may be fun, but what's more fun than Killer fishes popping out from screen into your face ??

An exciting adventure loosely based on the classic Jules Verne novel of the same name," Journey to the Center of the Earth" stars Brendan Fraser (Crash, The Mummy) as a science professor whose nontraditional hypotheses have made him the laughing stock of the academic community. But on an expedition in Iceland, he and his nephew stumble upon a major discovery that launches them on a thrilling journey deep beneath the Earth's surface, where they travel through never-before-seen worlds and encounter a variety of unusual creatures.Journey to the Center of the Earth is directed by Academy Award-winning visual effects veteran Eric Brevig (?Total Recall,? ?Pearl Harbor?) from a screenplay by Michael Weiss, Jennifer Flackett & Mark Levin.

Just see it on 3D, you'll never need anything else. Other than that, it's nothing special, just going in & coming out.

Loads of Indie Music & loads of Fun, it may be steady as a Train but sharp as a Razor, Nick & Norah brings an unexpected Love story between two teenagers in a matter of hours. Another hit for Michael Cera, & introducing Kat Dennings as her first ever lead role as she can be seen in some teenage flicks as minor roles.

Among those teenage flicks making these days, lots of Blood, Sex & Booze, this is the one that stays out of the field and tried to be an honest teen comedy, & it succeeded.

Pronounced as eep - mun, a story about Bruce Lee's Martial Arts master. Set in the days when China has been under the Colony of Japan.

Even the story line may be simple & predictable, you must fall in Love with the Corography & Donnie Yen, Oh yeah Donnie Yen, he's one of the Top badass action heros living in Movies these days, no CGI, no effects, but real fists & kicks, that what's lacking in Hollywood's so called action Movies.

Fast paced, action packed & wonderful performances, a superb thrill ride you need to watch this year. Highly recommended.

Starring - Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Billy Burke
A Goldcrest Pictures Studios Productions

This is the first ever 1 & half star review since The Mummy: Tomb Of The Shit, even though I have no plan to see this Movie, I was being abducted by a bunch of friends & walk inside the Hall.

twilight

The story is about nothing but a good looking vegetarian vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson), fell in love with a pretty face Bella (Kristen Stewart) who just moved to a Town. Then later involved 3 Power Rangers villains look alike so called Vampires trying to prove who rules the skool & begins the gayest vampire story I've ever seen on screen. Twilight is only for 14 years old gals & their beloved grandmothers.

When I walk out, I'm thinking to review Interview With The Vampire on DVD to refresh my vampire knowledge, how the vampire stories used to rock. Heard they replaced a new Director for it's sequel, but who the F*ck cares ???

Afterwords - It's been estimately 12 hrs I walked out from the Hall & I still want my precious $10 back.

The Day the Earth Stood Still - PG-13

Directed By Scott Derrickson
Starring Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates
A 20th Century Fox Studios Productions

a re imagination to 1951's B & W classic, not as near as good as the Original, but worth a watch. While the Original is lacks on Action & more on Drama, this remake tries to balance out the philosophy between an Action & Drama.

A mysterious alien, Klaatu(Keanu Reeves), travels to Earth with a simple mission; to save the planet. He lands his vast space ship in Central Park, New York and announces his plans to a fearful world watching from all corners of the globe. He will destroy everything then re-populate our planet with clones of the current species... All except humans who he feels are responsible for Earth's destruction and must be permanently destroyed. He unleashes swarms of dust size robots who sweep through New York and the surrounding area dissolving everything in their path. As mankind fights to survive, a female scientist, Helen Benson(Jennifer Connelly) convinces Klaatu to stop the earth?s destruction and give us a second chance.

I have no idea why the Hell is this Movie get a disastrous 22% on RT, this may not be as good as WOTW remake by Steven Spielberg or the invasion classics Independence Day, it still gives a quality of today's Sci-fi Movies & a homage to it's classic.

The Day the Earth Stood Still Pictures, Images and Photos

As for Keanu Reeves, the man who portrays from Ted, Lord Buddha to Neo, he did a cold blooded Alien Klaatu who barely even blinks. this may be a reason for the fans of the original to hate, for Keanu's lifeless performance. Jennifer Connelly as Helen Benson, whose eyes always looks more sad than it's supposed to be, this is the kind of Movie she mustn't cast in. Jaden Smith & Kathy Bates are just annoying on screen characters, a son who never understands a mom & Ma'am Sectary who only speaks of problems & no solution.

After all, it's a fine remake on border line, apart from it's weak story line & not so special characters, at least way too better then the gay vampires.

Afterwords - "Klaatu barada nikto", did I hear that ? however, that'll not help 20th Century Fox from it's failures.

Starring John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Susie Essman, Mark Walton

Bolt: Yeah, I don't care *how* the message is translated, alright? Just do it, okay? You tell the green-eyed man that I will *not* sleep, I will *not* rest, until my Penny is safe from his evil clutches. You tell the green-eyed man that...
[gets interrupted yet again]
Black cat: Woah, woah, woah. *Way* too many words. I was like, 'What?', then I was like, 'Huh?', and then, uh, I got a little bored. Something about clutches? Anyway, I'll do my best. Ciao!

Bolt is great, & with 3-D glasses, it's Superb. Wonderful story line, thrilling action scenes, funny plots & amazing voice performances.

Bolt (John Travolta) is an American White Shepherd, living his whole life on a Hit TV show, starring as a Heroic superdog Bolt, where he believes all the TV show is a real thing. While accidentally shipped across the country, Bolt discovers the true life of a real dog & his way back home with his new friends.

A Lemon Films Productions

A Mexican Movie with superb atmosphere & beautiful shots, then later torn apart by an unexpected plot & suck ass ending which explains nothing but embarrassment.

The Movie tries to combine the Horror legends such as The Shining, The Exorcist with modern day's The Others & The Ring, but fails to keeps it's potential on the road & falls from a cliff. c'mon, Ghosts controlling human's mind for that much ?? I wanna see something smart & reasonable as last year's The Orphanage.

What a ride !! I've seen Korean Dramas, Action Movies & Horrors but I've never seen Western frm them, & this is a Damn good one.

Set in The Manchuria 1930s, The Good The Bad & The Weird tells the story of 3 Outlaws hunted by the Japanese Colonies & Russian bandits for so called the Treasure Map. The Good, the bounty hunter working for the Korean rebels & on a mission to rob the unknown map from colonies. The Bad, a professional killer & robber hired by the Japanese to fetch back the map in order to cheat the money. & The Weird, is a broken Robber whose life is miserable & untold.

Fast-paced, action-packed & thrilling. Directr Kim Ji-woon made this Movie with US$13M which is a small amount comapred to Hollywood heavy weights, but it's tops my best Movies of 2008 so far.

If U're expecting something different from the Korean hands, this is the one not to be missed. See it in Cinemas, in demand or on DVD. Simply tops on my favorite Korean flicks, Tae Guk Gi, Oldboy & The Host.

Afterwords - The Movie have loads of memorables to lots of Western flicks, but on a different language with different faces.

Quantum of Solace - PG-13

Photobucket

DIRECTED BY Marc Forster
STARRING Daniel Craig, Olga Kurylenko, Mathieu Amalric
A Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios Production.

What's This About

A sequel to year 2006 007 reboot Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace continues the story of MI6 secret agent James Bond, haunted by vengeance in the loss of his love Vesper Lynd. 007 faces a mysterious organization which black mailed Vesper to betray Bond.

Story

Quantum is a powerful & secret organization which is conspiring to take control most of the natural resources of the world. Dominic Greene, the leader of the Quantum negotiate with Bolivia Generals to give him a wasted desert, which is however unexpectedly the main source of South American water supply. 007 teams up with Bolivian Secret service agent Camille Montes to stop Quantum from getting it's way. On his way of vengeance & justice, 007 faces the Terrorists, CIA, Police & MI6 itself which doubts him losing control on the loss of his Love.

Actings

Another stone cold performance from Daniel Craig as MI6 agent James Bond, he is undoubtedly the most badass 007 ever seen on screen. Olga Kurylenko also brings a wonderful performance as a Bolivian Secret Agent with her own vendetta in order to avenge her parents death. Mathieu Amalric is without a doubt the best French villain in Bond Movies.

Cinematography

If Marc Forster made his name an anonymous to this Movie, I'll probably think this is a Paul Greengrass' Movie. Apart from the FX shot where 007 & Quantum member fall down onto glasses, most of the shots where done hand held, shaky & fast. But for me who seen REC & Diary Of The Dead in 1 week, it was a child's play for me. I Love the shot at the opening car chase where the Alfa Romero fall out of the road, it was a WTF to me.

Photobucket

The difference with other Bonds

- The iconic shooting sequence is at the end of the Movie.
- No James Bond car, except from Aston Martin at the opening chase sequence.
- And yes, you'll not hear "Bond, James Bond".

Overall

Not as good as Casino Royale but nevertheless the CGI-filled, super advanced 007 I used to hate is now turned back into real deal action figure once again with Daniel Craig.

Afterwords - I always wanted to see Clive Owen as James Bond, but Daniel Craig simply became my Favorite Bond besides Sean Connery.

DIRECTED BY Jaume Balagueró, Paco Plaza
SATRRING Manuela Velasco, Ferran Terraza, Jorge Serrano
A Filmax Studios Production

First Words

The Blair Witch Project meets 28 Days Later in this stylish Spanish thriller made on very low budget. Shaky, scary & realistic, [REC] brings the taste of Horror Movies onto a whole lot of level, like we've never taste before.

What's This About?

Spanish local TV reporter Ángela & her cameraman Pablo follow the crew of Fire fighters to rescue a woman trapped in her apartment. The building is then quarantine by the military & the neighborhood had been locked up without any Warnings. The night used to be silent & peaceful was covered by horrific screams & the midnight TV show changed to the proof of terror.

Cinematography

It's a handy cam Movie, what more you'll need than Shaky & confusing ??? Without a doubt, the camera works at the last scene is priceless, simply brings the chills to the nerves.

REC

Actings

Manuel Bronchud brings a wonderful performance as an ambitious TV reporter who is the main character of the Movie. The remaining cast, from screaming Zombies to the worried Neighborhood, brings adrenaline performances which divides the Movie from good to excellent.

Score

No single Music, not even a whistle. Except from the end credit sequences.

Overall

I gave five stars for it's originality, people may have thought they could make infected Movies like this, but Spanish people converted the dream into reality. Same as last year, simple but stylish "The Orphanage" became my favorite Horror Movie of 2007.

Afterwords - U.S remake this Movie with the name Quarantine after less than one year [REC] was released, sounds weird isn't it ? and critics saying it sucks. So please see [REC] before Quarantine, see it in Cinema or on DVD or whatever, there's nothing better than the Original.

Max Payne - PG-13

First Words
***********
A game that striked me on High School is finally on screen & yet more with 1 of my favorites, Mark Wahlberg. Unless Uwe Boll not making it, I don't think twice to see it.

What's This About?
******************
A Family, then later a partner, those relationships were taken away from undercover Cop Max Payne while investigating on a drug called Valkyr. He then faces Enemies & betrayals on the way of his Vengence.

Story Line
**********
One word, Weak. Weak to the @$$, Family & Friend killed, finding Mystries behind some Drug, then Double crossed by unexpected, add some Ultra Slow-mos & Bang Bangs, you'll get Max Payne.

Actings
*******
Mark Wahlberg is badass as usual, perfect fit for the role. For a sec there, I thought he's gonna be the second Bourne, but too bad he misses.

Photobucket

Cinematography
**************
U may hate the story line but you must admit Max Payne brings 1 of the best visuals of 2008. Beautifully shot, perfectly edited & oh.. Don't forget the ultra slow-mo shots...badass...

Overall
******
Another miss for Mark since this year's The Happening & another failure for Director John Moore. A smarter script & Longer Max can improve this Movie a lot. & yes the end Credits are Breathtaking, most of the exciting moments of the Movie are there. After credit scene ? Believe me , It's more like a beer commercial.

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane - R First Words
=========
Critics say, this Movie is "There's something about Mary" with a "Friday The 13th" kinda twist, I started to remember those reviews by the time the story started to twist off, a typical slasher Movie that proves Love Kills people, this genre is not too strange if you've seen last year's "Teeth".

What's This About?
===============
Mandy Lane, the untouched, flawless high school girl who went on a trip to a school boy's Country Ranch on invitation, Everybody is dying to be with Mandy but someone is killing for it, but boy I tell ya, this is not what U expected...

Cinematography
==============
Stylish, not too shaky or stable, but fit for a slasher flick. The colors are vivid, & it's brilliant. Extra Props must be add up to the closing credits which was done beautifully & stylish.

Actings
=====
A wonderful performance from never before seen Cast, simply nonetheless to say.

Score
====
Too many Songs, which covers the entire Score. Some scenes better fit with a simple score instead of Songs.

Overall
=====

The Dark Knight - PG-13 Jim Gordon: " Harvey, where's my family?"
Harvey Dent: "where my family died."

I skipped my 2 hrs class just to watch The Dark Knight before it's too damn crowded, & it's worth the Hell... It's simply the best Movie of 2008 so far & without a doubt the best superhero Movie ever made.

The Movie proves that a born filmmaker can improve a comic book genre that has been existed for a decades ago into a Movie genre that will make everyone think that Comic book Movies are no more kiddie stuff.

I was blown away by the Actors' performances especially the late Heath Ledger's. His Joker performance is nothing but an Oscar worthy, simply making Jack Nicholson's Joker performance to be nominated for a Razzie. & yes, that tragic Death faking scene is uncut, felt a little sad for him when I saw that scene.

Photobucket

I have personally watched The Dark Knight 6 times & I still have a plan to watch it again. Can anyone believe I've spent over $100 on this Movie, including T-shirt, Movie tickets & Pop corns. If you haven't seen it even until now, maybe it's now the time to grab a ticket , & you'll know why it tops IMDB's top 250. Movie marketings says "I Believe In Harvey Dent" & I say " I Believe in Nolan",no.."I believe in Nolans", the brothers are now becoming two of the best guys making Movies in these days.

Words cannot describe how good this Movie is. Highest Resolution Camera, Oscar worthy performances, A good storyline & U must admit the this movie brings the most tragic Love story of the summer 2008, between Harvey Dent & Rachael Dawes. Moreover, stunning visual & sound effects, a non-stop 2:30 hrs ride, & simply challenging other superhero genres to make one like this or even closer to this. What you'll need more for a Movie???

<< "You see, nobody panics when things go according to plan. Even if the plan is horrifying. If I told people that , tomorrow a gangbanger is going to get shot, or a truckload of soldiers are going to get blown up, nobody would panic because it's all part of the plan. But tell people that one tiny little mayor is going to die and everyone loses their minds!" >>

Bangkok Dangerous - R It could have been alot better if Pang Brothers can handle more budget & more interesting Plot, the story is simple as a moving Train, a Hitman who hits back the entire Mob, using only 2 Pistols, dun think too much for the bad guys, they also use Pistols.

Unnecessary nude scenes, Unnecessary Bloods & Gore, Unwatchable Action scenes, & most important, the Unsatisfied Ending scene, (spoilers) A Hitman who cares for nothing finally died doing Suicide ??? It's one of the Wtfs of 2008. This Movie is a waste of Talents, both on Nicolas Cage & Pang Brothers, but Nicolas gave a nice performance though.

Cloverfield - PG-13 OK....No big words, this movie is "a Must-See",whether you're a Horror fan or monster fan,Shaky camera lover or You just wanted to see a Movie with a different taste.

The Movie opens with some TV stuffs & some Government property approvals like it had been viewed by some Authorities. Then it continues the whole movie with a hand-held video footage, via from the view of a group of New Yorkers.
Even it's screen ratio is a ratio that said a goodbye to Hollywood Movies a long time ago.& it does worked out beautifully.

So what is the monster?,a Whale?,an Old schooled Godzilla?,A video game based creature?No....this one is invented by J.J Abrams & his team.Let me call it the cloverfield monster as it is still unnamed. The monster is super big, angry, ruthless, loud, strong & can say pretty fast for his size. It's hands are more like the extra legs which are extending from its body, plus the super big mouth with gruesome teeth. It also drops lots of spider-like mini creatures which are also fast & furious.Their bites can even cause some unknown infections, which the story didn't show very much.

Photobucket

Unlike "The Blair Witch Project",this movie is shown exactly from a single view.My ears were bleeding in the scenes like the soldiers shooting down the Monster in the middle of the streets. Some dudes even left the cinema hall because of those super shaky cameras.Unfortunately, this is kind of monster movie I have been waiting for years,So it was kinda thrill ride for me."The Fake Monster Documentary" I must say.

This movie is not only about a monster attacking NYC,it also includes a tragic Love story between Rob Hawkins & Beth McIntyre, two of the main characters. They uses some cut-offs & flashbacks, which looks stylish & beautiful. They ended up under the bridge, screaming "I Love You" for a couple times. The story seems quite fast after the death scene of Hud,the main camera holder of the Movie. They must extend about 15 or 20 minutes more to give us the maximum satisfaction.

Extra Props must be given to the End Credits. They are the best I've seen since last year's Michael Clayton.A bass tone become louder & louder & then mixed with lots of string instruments. That music theme is the one & the only music in this movie & it's quite thrilling.So....there you go Director Matt Reeves,a big boost for you.

Death Race - R It's loud , it's fun & it feels like a cheesy ride at the same time. That's what Anderson can offer for his new Action ride.

In this new version of 1975 flick of the same name except for the 2000 thing, the story revolves around ex-racer Jensen Ames(Statham), whom his wife has been killed & forced into a Prison, where men Race for freedom. He must then join the race, not as Jensen , but as a legend known as Frankenstein who died in the previous year race. but he's gonna find out how he got set up on his wife's murder, & most important, Who sets him up?

As I mentioned Loud, it's really really Loud, you'll hear non-stop Machine Gun shoot outs for about half an hour... & even for shaky camera fan like me cannot stand it's confusing camera movements. The Script needs a fix, the actings was not bad though except for the side kick girl, who makes me laugh every time she starts to speak.

Photobucket

If you're expecting an action ride, packed with Guns, Girls & Guts....this is the one not to be missed, otherwise don't even think to go & test it out, it'll give you an Headache , both on the pointless script & on the non-stop explosives.

The Happening - R (Warning:Some Spoilers Ahead)
I've sensed it, I've wore a rain coat, I've seen the signs, I've been twisted like never been twisted b 4 when I first saw that van in the Village, I've seen Shyamalan saves the day. But is it really happening? Is the talents of Shyamalan sinking deep into the Ocean? Let's take a look.....

The first 10 mins of the movie opens with non-stop death scenes , no explainations, no warnings, people are just beginning to freeze then trying to kill themselves in all possible ways. The government authorities blame the terrorists, toxic chemicals spread into the air. But it's Shyamalan....everybody knows he have unexpected twisted endings & talents to scare people.

Honestly, some scenes really did scares me.... unfortunately 3 or 4 only. Shyamalan sometimes tried to be apart of Wes Craven and John Carpenter but he still dun wanna leave that Stanley Kubrick's cold blooded styles.

The Similarities between other Shyamalan Movies......
1)Actings are bad as usual.
2)Camera works are still cool.
3)Some plots still childish.
4)Still scares the shit of me.
5)The opening credits.

Differences between otther Shyamalan movies........
1)The gore, oh yes.... bite my hands, cut my wrists.
2)Unbelievably he's not in the Movie
3)The ending, come on..... Plants Vs. Humans???? give us more mystrious & lethal reasons.

Happening

The Happening is not a comeback for Shyamalan, & simply not as good as it could have been. Critics will tear it apart, people who don't know Shyamalan will be still "What The Hell Is That?", But nevertheless, I still forgive Shyamalan for the chills he had given me in The Sixth Sense & Signs. Next stop....Nickelodeon's Avatar, come back or not he surely needs a co-writer.

The Incredible Hulk - PG-13 Lee Ang's (Asian name) version is long tempoed, heavily drama, more emotions & more Zzzzs.....for a Movie ,that version is a better one, but if you're expecting CGI filled action scenes, more A list stars, & more Marvel influenced Comic hero Movie, this one will eat your hearts out.

Edward Norton is perfectly fit for Bruce Banner like Cristian Blae & Robert Downey Jr. fit for Bruce Wayne & Tony Stark. The story line is as simple as hell. Good guys want him for good, bad guys, hence the military is for Evil, & our hero is the one who'll stuck in the middle & then saves the day. Needless to say the next Hulk Movie will be the smack down between two Marvel Heroes.
