Fantastic Mr. Fox Fantastic Mr. Fox PG
A very unique film, and an interesting departure from Wes Anderson's norm, Mr. Fox is a lot of fun from beginning to end. Quirky, stylistic, funny, and smart, this is actually a film (almost) all ages can enjoy.

Its nostalgic style is also welcome, in a world where most features rely so heavily on creating 3D worlds.
Disney's A Christmas Carol Disney's A Christmas Carol PG
Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol is one of the greatest, and most enduring stories ever told and is, therefore, one of the most-oft filmed stories. That being said, studios are often looking for a fresh take or a new way to adapt it. Some results are spectacular. Others fall flat.

Zemeckis' movie is, for the most part, a traditional telling of the story, told through the use of 3D animation and multiple actors digitally playing multiple roles. it has a darker atmosphere, compared to most previous takes on the story, but that real is the true "spirit" (that wasn't intended as a pun, but I decided to make it one anyway) of Dickens' work.

I saw this movie in IMAX 3D and thought the visual effects were amazing and the performances were well done. However, like so many movies that are made with the idea of being presented in 3D, the film had a fair share of "cheap 3D effects" and some very unnecessary moments. Over all, however, I felt that, while it was not one of the best adaptations of A Christmas Carol or one of my absolute favorites, I still feel that it is a unique enough viewing experience to warrant a watching.

One final note: of director Zemeckis' forays into the genre of 3D animation (after Polar Express and Beowulf), this is probably the most well-done.

Monty Python's Life of Brian Monty Python's Life of Brian R
My all time favorite movie. Not as well known as Holy Grail, but a far better movie. Not sacreligious but actually makes some good points about fanaticism and organized religion. Even without the underlying message, it's still a funny as hell movie.
