X-Men Origins - Wolverine - PG-13 I have to say I was very impressed by this. Reports about this from friend were... well, basically wrong. They had claims it was under an hour and 15 minutes. It's not it's a full a hour, 50 mins. and it's a benefit for it. There are a few cheesy explosions, but the story is solid. The FULL original story is more interesting that how this movie tells it but after playing the Game of it on the Xbox 360 back in May. which I really enjoyed, I knew what to expect and this movie exceeded those for me. Nice use of Tyler Kitch but he needed his character scoped out a bit more, and Charles Xavier at the end looked a little,.. odd. He was clearly added into the movie after. I'm sure Patrict Stuart was paid a little for it but he did no work at all. I really enjoyed it though. October 26, 2009

The Keeper - R Yeah, one of his good ones, They seem to be getting better, The acting is still hammy but there is enough of his great quality Aikido in there. Playing Babysitter is a role for him. And he does it well. Really enjoyed this. The format is an old one but I was very entertained by it. October 26, 2009

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li - PG-13 Bloody Awful. The only good thing about this film was for Video Game fans seeing Robin Shou from Mortal Kombat in a Street fighter movie. Kristen Kruek is one of the most annoying, least attractive actresses on the circuit in my opinion. There were about 2 decent martial arts moves in there that I liked. But it was mainly Pap. Watchmen - R Well It has to be said I had no idea what to expect, the first hour was crap and boring, not to my taste. I've not read the comics at all but this was still a movie that should have been right up my street. The film let me down in places and the style was lost on me I'm afraid.... but it did heat up 1 full hour into it. When Dr Manhatten was really introduced. It was silly in places, it tried to be clever and wasn't. A tad predictable. But the last 90 minutes did entertain me. Shame the first hour took teh shape it did. August 5, 2009

12 Rounds - PG-13 This is a bad action film that has next to no fighting, which I guess is why you'd wanna hire John Cena for the part. he's stiffer than wood backed cardboard though as is his female co star, Acting is a bit thin and in the ol 90s where this type of film thrived it would have sucked. Next to Drop Zone or any other action film like this. There is luckily enough great A class support cast there but in response to a thin script from Cena you shouldn't expect much. The thing is..I really enjoyed it. This really shows that Aiden Gillen can be a really good bad guy. He should be used in more hollywood films. Th Irish gay guy from Queer as Folk... Okay, which one. The predatory one. he seems to rock in films and he's British, so he'd make that typically great villain that all English actors seem to be asked to play. July 27, 2009

Outlander - R I actually loved this film. I've never considered myself a fan of Jim Caviezel but casting him in this really worked. It was a humble choice but it needed a humble actor. If anyone knows me well they'll know I love creature features and while the Moorwen is clearly CGI there are some eerie used of it here. Darkness and flame are used well. The use of this reminded me of Brotherhood of the Wolf too, again another great film. I've seen other Viking films that have done Vikings better. But this is more than a silly creature action film. You don't care that John hurt, Sophie Myles and Ron Perlman aren't convincing as Vikings. Jut after watching it I just felt like it rocked.. It's an hour and 55 mins. So i knew I'd end up taking it more seriously that previous monster movies, that are usually 90 mins only or less. No I seriously liked this. A very nice use and balance of Technology here too. Quantum of Solace - PG-13 This was a dumber, thinner film to Casino Royale. It was lacking in budget and characterisation... I think. The budget should've been smaller due to the wastes of money the cursed production phase chucked up and what with the incoming global recession at the time of filming you can clearly see how the film suffered. It was even thinner than some of the Pierce Brosnan movies... lack of a great script and less bondisms... this really isn't bond.... But.... and it's an important But... I really really liked it. It's was more an action film that Casino was, it's dumbness benefited it and the only real drawbacks were the holes in the plot. I really like the fighting style in this, and the parkour involved. Not as good as Peirce's first 3 outings.. as Bond but miles better than his last. June 25, 2009

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - PG-13 It's definitely bigger and better than the first, though better only by a smidge, once you've seen teh Autobots arrive and transform in the first film you know what to expect... Well this film dishes it out even more but at the expense of character development.

Now I love the use of the Twins Skids and Mudflap, comic relief and they kicked arse too but Arcee and my faveourite from the cartoons, Sideswipe. Arcee, a female Autobot who is actually three Motorcycles could have worked better and you might have seen her face once.. But you don't. it's half a face blurred and Sideswipe had the potential to be so cool. And he was... but you just don't see it. Even Ironhide and Rachet are underused.... Bumblebee really kicked as though.

Great use of the Constructicons though. and Ravage. I'm a true Transformers fan so it was nice to see him. though I'd love to have seen him turn into a robot and this isn't seen. Though what I did love sooo much was that ravage did come out of Soundwave, with his actual voice too, Now a massive satellite above the Earth... (and he's still there, so expect him in Transformers 3), as opposed to a Tape Recorder. The Autobots had their own Tape Recorder too so it'd be nice to see him there. be nice to see Mirage too, Hound and Cliffjumper. And if Sideswipe is in thie movie, bring in his brother Sunstreaker that yellow Lamborghini.

Also, you don't quite know what happens to the Twins Mudflap and Skids at the end. Micheal By, it might help to finish with an actual ending, not just a slice of cheese.

But I did like what they did with some of it. Some great work from Sams parents again, John Turturro was immense as you might expect. Some great writing, not too long even at 2 and a half hours. I really didn't realise it. and finally.... finally..... Megan Fox.... OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

I loved the use of Jetfire and Wheelie too, very odd the Transformers lore they screw up, but then again I don't believe the true canon can be made into a film for the 21st Century.

BloodRayne II: Deliverance - R Too too bad it shouldn't be awarded a whole star. Underbudgeted, under shot, underlit, and under directed. Uwe Boll should be barred from making another film. He should also be shot for crimes against humanity and hung drawn and quartered for his harm done to culture and entertainment. Do not watch this waste of money and time. I gave up less than half way through. I couldn't see anything, there wasn't enough lighting used in the film. Officially they ran out of budget for lighting. May 18, 2009

Punisher: War Zone - R This isn't bad an incarnation, it has it's own style, though has some which remind me slightly of Dick Tracy. It's more visceral that Tom Jayne's Punisher though more general. In fact Ray Stevenson's Frank Castle is one hell of a Genero-anti-hero. The film is flawed in so many ways but I did really enjoy it. Sure it may've been 4 in the morning but that's what you want at that time of the morning. The first fight scene is pretty damned good but from there there's o great excitement. The last fight could be better though it's not THAT bad. It also reminds me of Micheal Keaton's Batman, the villain if very Joker-like. Jigsaw is by no means any Jack Napier, nor is Dominic West any Jack Nicholson, ooh hell no. But he does send up the villaim-figure well enough. There are even some funny moments. There are some tongue-firmly-in-cheek moments too. Some you just have to laugh at, just to remind yourself you have a grin to use. Some of teh plot is also a little pathetic at times, though the violence through out keeps this entertaining and laughably brutal. Though... and I'm a strong critic when it comes to Damsels in Distress but Julie Benz has played better Damsels in her time and will play better in the future, But this was just sad. April 28, 2009

Biohazard: Degeneration (Resident Evil: Degeneration) - Unrated This was much better than I expected. I will alwaya get Resident Evil Movies to see how they stick to the game and the series and I was pissed off with the Live action variations... THIS ROCKED. The acting is a little hammy and wooden but it gets the point across in an awesome visual style. The script could be better as Resident Evil 4 the game is. But there are still plenty of great lines. They should do this kinda film more often. Well done Capcom. January 29, 2009

Highlander: The Source - R The only reason I'm giving this a 1 is for the fighting, which is... okay, and I have a hard time enough calling it that. Otherwise this is pap, pap, pap, it's a real disappointment especially for fans. It's the stupidest thing I've seen in 3 years. And I do normally enjoy some crap films. My stepday actually captained Adrian Paul at Rugby when they were both at school. I expected better from the series and I love that. I have all , what, 10 seasons on DVD. Awesome. This Awful. Avoid at all costs. January 23, 2009

The Dark Knight - PG-13 I LOVED this film. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it. However. I found it a little overated. Great action, very clever and a great script. However, I think the Rachel Dawes character pisses me off regardles sof who plays her, be it maggie Gyllanhaal or Katie Holmes. Heath Ledger... Awesome, real psycho acting. Bloody good. However I feel that Batman/Bruce Wayne's grief over losing the love of his life could've been explored more. Two-Face. I like what they did with his face at least. It pushed the movie out for me and I think that was necessary. One of the best films I've seen this year, not THE best, but it kept me glued to edge. Loved it. December 22, 2008

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2) - PG-13 This is one colourful movie. A wonderful tour de force of weirdness that only Guillermo Del Toro's brillaince can conjur. I loved it. It has a strange start and it's not completely in synch with the trailers. You'll see what I mean if you've watched those more than 10 times each, like I have.

Having the voice of Johan Krausse played by Seth (Family Guy) McFarlane is such an "outside the box" yet so deserved a choice that this movie flew off the screen for me more with him in it. Genius. I so can't wait for Hellboy 3. It must happen, sooner rather than later. Keep Guilllermo at the helm as well. There are too many lesser man below him to risk a change.

R.V. (RV) (Runaway Vacation) - PG This was an awful comedy yet strangely entertaining. I think all Robin Williams films are. I mean I loved Bicentennial Man. I even cried during that. But this was drab, it lacked the emotion and played on an old tried, tested and overly abused disney trait. Nice to see thr Gorgeous Jojo in amovie though. November 30, 2008

The Incredible Hulk - PG-13 Incredible Hulk indeed. No he really is. I had my worries abot Ed Norton running away with the film in his little kit bag but it turns out he was really good, Well suffice it to say the film was immensely enjoyable from Start to finish. I preferred it to the first one and I live the end. Every aspect of it I thought was done well. And true to the comics. November 15, 2008

Dead Space: Downfall - Unrated Sure.. it's not the best horror film, it's nowhere near it. It's not even scary or gory enough to be classed as a horror, in any vein. But it is thrilling. If you're a fan of the anime style. It's not as gory as it acclaimed to be but it is vesceral and well paced. It's a nice 76 minutes long, and it seems long enough to tell the story.

Now, if you're playing the game and remember, this is a feature leangth prequel, a movie, BASED ON A GAME. How many games to you have or have played on wher eyou can actually say you know the full stpry, the whole plot. The backstory, othe characters involved. The lore of the game? Yeah that's right,. not toooo many. If you've downloaded the slightly animated comics from Xbox live you'll know how the colony met it's demise, at the hands of the Necromorphs and the discovery of the artifact. In this, you get to learn of how the USK Ishimura goes about cracking the planet of Aegis 7 unleashing the Necromorphs. This is only touched on in a few of teh boxes from the animated comic you should have downloaded on Xbox live. After this movie... Play the game. Now you know the story from every angle. And this movie ends just as the Game begins. How many times can you say that you have seen the whole story, read and watched and head the comic, watched the feature length prequel movie and the played the 10+ hour game that it's based on. (The Game came first remember). This is the Dead Space expereince told on three levels in three different styles and is a lengthy one. I loved it.

Creep - R I have to say I really enjoyed this. I love London though I don't live there anymore but I use the tubes often enough getting there. It did freak me out how Labyrinthian it is down there and "What If", Dusgusting enough to bring the dread factor but you should always go back to what you've knockd down to make sure the beast is dead dead. It was better than I had thought. Definitely surprised me. and Franke Potente...... Yummy. October 27, 2008

Saw II - R Better than I thought it would be, clever and well paced and always surprising. I doubt Saw V is gonna be the same. But This makes me wanna watch the others. I've got them all on DVD and have yet to watch them. This was on TV and I was pleasantly surprised. October 26, 2008

Never Back Down - PG-13 A mix between Karate Kid and the O.C. It could have been better. There were too many father issues between many of the characters. It was enjoyable I can't deny that and the mixed Martial Arts were a good watch in themselves. Though I demand more variation in the Martial Arts movies I see. Some great music I have to say though. Sadly the acting was...... baaaaad. The Wife of Jack Bauer should be capable of better. October 26, 2008

Doomsday - R daft with a capital "SHIT", It was a mess, had some potential but what films it ripped off it did badly. The only redeeming point was that the car chase at the end was good. Very Mad Max-ish but nowhere near as enjoyable. Niel Marshall,,, Why? Why? Why? The Descent, I love. Dog Soldiers was awesome. Great fun and has given me some great memories. I saw that on a great day in my life. This shouldn't have been a blip on my life. It's poor poor poor. October 26, 2008

Feast - R A nice little gorefest. have fun with it. it's a barmy comedic romp that's silly and gory. Sure there's little story but you forget that. it's disgusting in places. but bring on more like this. co- executively produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, with a cameo from Jason Mewes, you'd expect it wouldn't you. The Ruins - R It's not a great horror, but that's what's good about it. I enjoyed the House of Wax too and this reminds me of it in the sense that it makes a horrific term of events out of a place. The story is executed well is a little gappy. I've read some of the book by Scott Smith and the film stickes pretty close to it. October 18, 2008
