This was pretty good but it has a feel of Deja Vu having seen all the Final Destination movies, I'm sure the original Japanese version is Scarier!!!
The Dark Knight
PG-13
Heath Ledger is the BEST Joker Ever, so sorry Jack, I'm not even sure this is a Batman movie, Batman was almost a 3rd character whereas the Joker was the Main character and the guy who stood out the most!!! EVERYONE should see this movie!!!

I cried...I don't want to give anything away...so I'll say Christian Bale is HOT, his character's oldest son is dense and Russell Crowe is a BA like always! Some people in this movie talk too much and should've died long before they did! I usually hate Westerns but this is an exception for all times!

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2)
by Alexander''Let this remind you why you once feared the dark... ''
A mythical prince starts a rebellion against humanity in order to rule the Earth, so Hellboy and his team must save the world yet again from a certain unstoppable Golden Army.
Ron Perlman: Hellboy
Hellboy 2 is one of the most unexpected pleasures and combinations of genres I've seen in a while. Not only is this Hellboy sequel a comic book film but it's also a mixture of fantasy, imagination and comedy, light and dark.
Del Toro has taken the whole idea and turned it upside down and what comes about as an end result truly is refreshing. We have John Hurt popping up yet again in a much needed flashback prelude to explain about the film's backbone, the golden army.
We have a new wonderful villain in the form of Prince Nuada (Luke Goss,Blade 2), who displays some wonderful stuntwork and swordplay, not too mention some real class lines and showmanship, he gets his intent across effortlessly. I also loved his sister Princess Nuala (Anna Walton) and the connection they share.
Ron Perlman again shines as the lead Hellboy while the old team of Liz and Abe make for some fun times. Also a new character in the form of Johann Krauss(Voiced by Seth MacFarlane) provides us with laughs aplenty and a mysteriously suited ''gas man''. I mean when you get to the locker scene with Krauss and Hellboy and you can't stop laughing then you truly start to realize the many wondrous sides Hellboy 2 has.
The little tooth beasties were awesome and as they enter that fantastical troll town I began to think this is like some kind of fantasy Star Wars mixed with Pan's labyrinth and shaken with even traces of LOTR. The creatures and effects were completely perfect on the whole, overall. Think Pan's Labyrinth fused with the Silent Hill game series and that conjures up a relatively accurate description.
In the headquarters it felt to me, as Jeffrey Tambor & Abe are walking along the place, like a warped version of Men In Black where they are talking but you're also interested in seeing also what is happening in the background.
The new inclusion of Danny Elfman too for the music gives the movie an injection of vibrance also, and you really feel the momentum on the action parts and battles, as well as the chases. Hellboy 2 wasn't what I expected, which is a good thing and mixes fantasy with comic class. Throwing in laughs, romance and even a definite nod to a third installment.
A grand achievement and I'm left inspired artistically and creative wise also from Hellboy 2, a true vision from Del Toro that doesn't have to be too serious to be a bloody good show.A bloody good comic book/fantasy film.
Hellboy 2:Golden Army was simply amazing.
Abe wearing a toilet seat, and a ''gas man'' locker scene, is this film meant to be pant wettingly funny.
Del Toro shows he can do no wrong in my books, a visionary director.posted 1 day ago -

Charlie Wilson's War
by AndreaTook me a while to get around to watching this film, but in the end it was well worth it. Brilliant performances by Hanks and Hoffman. This film goes to show how the US with all our good intentions always manage to (in Wilson's words) "f*** up the endgame".
How can we spend a billion dollars for weapons in a covert war and not be willing to spend a million to rebuild schools?? Your guess is as good as mine. But, I think you will enjoy watching how the story unfolds.Hey, you should really see this!

Reservation Road
by AudreyAn absolutely riveting movie with strong performances by Jennifer Connelly,Juaquin Phoenix and Mark Ruffalo. it was also great to see Mira Sorvino after such a long absence-despite her limited role in this film.
Directed by Terry George (Hotel Rwanda) this is not an easy film to watch-particularly for parents. However it is a an excellent movie and I rate it as high as some of my favorites this past year.Three of the most talented actors today and the director of Hotel Rwanda bring a masterpiece of humanity to the screen in this underappreciated film. Please see it-it blew my mind.

Lars and the Real Girl
by Audreyinnovative, fresh and extraordinarily quirky-I truly loved this movie. It is amusing yet heartbreaking and inspirational.
Ryan Gosling is stellar in his portrayal of Lars. His emoting and body language were exquisitely touching and so real.
A truly amazing film about how all behavior makes sense within the context of each individual"s life and experiences. How wonderful the world would be if it were remotely like the people in Lar's home town. A great drama about mental illness,it's origins and the significance of the reactions from family and community.
Thanks to all who sent me reviews and recommendations for this film!Hey, you should really see this!

Gone Baby Gone
by AudreyFinally, redemption for Ben Affleck.Gone Baby Gone is a masterpiece of complexity and a movie that must be watched more than once.
I was left in awe at the multifaceted glimpse into personal integrity, interpersonal honesty, ethics and morals within the unpleasant context of a missing child. This film is heavy and cerebral, leaving one with many questions about trust, human connection and how one defines doing the right thing. The consequences of attitudes and behaviour often do not reflect the good intentions from which decisions are made.
Motivation is not black or white, and things are often not what they seem.Affleck has taken a very complex novel and made one of the finest films I've ever seen.
In a cold and cruel world full of atrocities and evil, what matters most is one's accountability to oneself and one's personal code of conduct.
As the bard put it in Hamlet:"To thine own self be true."
The setting of the film was meticulously created to paint a picture of the culture and masterful vernacular of the darker side of Boston. Exemplary character development and a plot that was far from predictable and refreshingly non Hollywood.
Casey Affleck was superb as the private investigator, and the moral barometer for the entire film.Hey, you should really see this!

Gothika
by Alexander''I am a rational person. I believe in science. I don't believe in the paranormal, and I don't believe in ghosts. But if you are the ghost of Rachel Parsons, then you would let me out of this cell.''
Ghost story in which a repressed female psychiatrist wakes up as a patient in the very asylum where she worked with no memory of why she is there and what she has done.
Halle Berry: Miranda Grey
Gothika follows the late 90s/early 00s trend of desaturated films that have a predominant colour: blue in this case. It creates an atmosphere that works very well for a horror/suspense film of this type, and that is heightened by the Gothic sets and production design, the one shot we get of the exterior of the psychiatric place makes it look like an old castle. Although the overall structure is more along the lines of a pedestrian thriller, the film adeptly weaves horror and unusual stylistic elements throughout its length, creating a whole greater than the sum of its parts. The performances are good, and the script and direction will keep you guessing most of the time.
The film transitions from doctor to patient to a frantic individual trying to make sense of all the madness. Accused of killing her husband, Miranda suffers in asylum. Strange visions and paranormal visitations shake her reality even further and lead her on a journey to discover what is happening to her and why. Why did she kill her husband?
Co-starring in the film is Robert Downey Jr. who also plays a psychiatrist (Pete). His attempts to help Miranda seem fruitless as she suffers through continually bizarre episodes and delusional thoughts. Miranda doesn't trust Pete or anyone else because, "you can't trust someone who thinks you're crazy." But is she?
Penelope Cruz also stars but like Robert she is sidelined to the background Berry steals most of the show.
Gothika is a psychological thriller bordering on a kind of Horror film reminiscent of the Silent Hill series. Underrated in my opinion and a bloody good effort. Worth watching the credits all the way through too for the Soulful Soundtrack and Limp Bizkit Behind Blue Eyes.Worth seeing, better than anticipated.
Exceeded expectations and really was fun.
Halle Berry is the focus, Cruz & Downey Jr are more supporting roles, and have considerably less screen time.posted 7 days ago -

Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging
by Alexander''If you haven't noticed, I'm a woman now! I wear a bra!''
The story centers on a 14-year-old girl who keeps a diary about the ups and downs of being a teenager, including the things she learns about kissing.
Georgia Groome: Georgia Nicolson
Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging is a book adaptation I must admit wasn't interesting in seeing. Yet I was persuaded to see. As it began I wondered what I had gotten myself into, because Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging plunges us into the thick of a very real, very funny life. The life in question is that of Georgia Nicolson who we are introduced to as shes walking down the road dressed as an olive.
Georgia Groome plays Georgia Nicolson well and shows us a 14 yr old girl facing trails and obstacles that arise in her life. Thongs,Snogging becomes a brilliant English Comedy that shouldn't be judged on the iffy trailer alone.
Eleanor Tomlinson as Jas, Aaron Johnson as Robbie, Alan Davies as Bob Nicholson, Karen Taylor as Connie Nicholson, &
Tommy Bastow as Dave the Laugh all give wonderful detail and depth to their respective roles and character's giving believability and comedy to each other and in interaction with one another.
There's alot of funny happenings and scenarios that arise throughout the film and even when Georgia seems to have problems non-stop theres light also. Problems ranging from the prospect of moving to New Zealand for her Dad's work, her mum's seemingly imminent affair with a hunky builder, snogging and acquiring a boyfriend, or a cat that seems to be dressed up by her younger sister constantly. All these little things add to the depth of Thongs,Snogging and it's in one of these circumstances that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, or in this instance a film by it's trailer.
Thongs, snogging may be a chick flick but that doesn't mean that is all it consists of. Because it is also a brilliantly formulated English film adaptation of a book that I would consider reading for it's humour and light hearted nature.
Thongs,Snogging is a feel good, romance and comedy piece that to me on a personal level shines.Despite not being Interested intially Angus, thongs and perfect snogging surprised me as being highly addictive and clever.
A cute little English film, book Adaptation.posted 8 days ago -

The Constant Gardener
by Alexander''Leave this Justin. Go home.''
''I can't go home. Tessa was my home. ''
A widower is determined to get to the bottom of a potentially explosive secret involving his wife's murder, big business, and corporate corruption.
Ralph Fiennes: Justin Quayle
Rachel Weisz: Tessa Quayle
Powerful, emotional and political Constant Gardner is hard for me to watch due to it's material yet i couldn't look away. It had me crying and hurting inside and all from the journey of one man trying desperately to find an answer to his wife's demise. I mean it's a nightmare and a love story that sadly is severed but you still feel through flashbacks that there is a connection.
Brilliant acting from its two lead roles Rachel Weisz and Ralph Fiennes, two of the best of my heart and this country.
Ralph's performance and accent as Justin is top standards while Weisz as Tessa shines like she did in Fountain and shows a performance worthy of the Oscar she plucked from her emotionally charged portrayal told sadly but effectively in past tense.
The romantic portion of the film was immortalized by the two characters Justin and Tessa, (Ralph & Rachel). Their first meeting was dynamically presented as Tessa was a social activist heckling Justin as he was making a political speech. When the hall was cleared, however, it was Justin who was actually comforting Tessa after her outburst. The juxtaposition of the placid, passive Justin versus the fervent, hyper-kinetic Tessa was brilliantly established in that opening scene.
The strands of thriller and social realism are inextricably tied together in the film. As a whodunit, The Constant Gardener seeks to uncover what actually happened to Justin and Tessa on their African journey. At the same time, the main culprit that emerges is the heavy hand of greed as the pharmaceutical companies exploit helpless victims of tuberculosis for the purpose of testing and marketing an experimental drug. At one point in the film, it is disclosed to Justin that the pharmaceutical industry is no different than arms dealers.
This film truly rewards its audience as it works on so many levels. Like Crash you won't be able to stop pondering over every thing you've just seen. The politics here are engaging and bound to stir up even the most complacent viewer. What's even more amazing is that all of the timely political discourse and subsequent thriller aspects of the film, courtesy of the source material, John Le Carre's novel, are wrapped up in an immortal romance. We the audience join Fiennes on his journey across Africa, and we rediscover the love story between he and his wife that ties the film in a poetic realism usually reserved for movies with much less on their minds.
To top it off, it's all delivered in the maddeningly genius Meirelles style that took critics and audiences by storm in his debut masterpiece City of God. We have the shaky hand-held camera darting through vibrant and colorful third-world locales juxtaposed with jaw-droppingly gorgeous aerial photography of Africa in all its glory. Meirelles again shows us he is a true artist and visionary willing to show both the shocking beauty and abject horror of the people and places that populate his films. Again he delivers a message that people are doing horrible things to each other, everywhere.
With City of God he seemed to be saying the only hope is to document and record it. The Constant Gardener makes that argument again and takes it one brilliant step forward. We may not be able to stop a war or a huge global injustice, but we do have the power to help one person at a time. It takes a courageous film to make such a statement, and a brilliant film-maker to deliver it, and that's just what The Constant Gardener achieves.
Fine performances that reside in Constant Gardner not only come from it's two leads but come from Bill Nighy who manages not to be funny, Danny Houston who's in loads of good films recently, and Hubert Kounde who proves it's the quiet ones you got to watch.
Constant Gardner hurts to watch, performances yes it's five stars, but i think it's a movie that is all to real, and for me that hits to close to the mark, to life.
Losing a loved one is a very hard thing for me and to watch another man go through that, it hurts so much and sets me off, until I'm a quivering mess.
The hopelessness, the injustice and that sometimes your enemy, the ones you were fighting are right back at home. In this regard CG is very clever and it's message hits home with a bitter aftertaste and a sharp pain tearing point.
Don't think i could watch this too often due to its realistic and then rather sad finish but it's a masterpiece nonetheless.
Like that last gun shot and blackness, Constant Gardner has one shot, and by heck it takes it!Don't like watching this too often but I think it was necessary in light of being necessary.
A Masterful film from the man who made City Of God.
Ralph Fiennes & Rachel Weisz are incredible.
Love never dies. It lives on inside us, that's the magic of Constant Gardner.
Sorry for going on and on,
