| The Big Blue (Le Grand bleu) - R | I really enjoyed this film. The main story is very light and thinly stretched, so to really enjoy it I feel you have to look deeper at the characters and read between the lines. The photography is beautiful, and really something to see and something to learn if you don't particularly know much about the "sport" or how it operates. This mix of 'art' cinematography and romance made it a big money earner all over Europe but, not surprisingly, only gained critical acclaim elsewhere | August 4, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Sin City - R |
The movie is two hours long which is a modern rendition of a comic book told in the film noir style; t's shot in high-contrast black and white with an ever-present voice over narration that gives it the feel of this genre of old. Photography - very good; Special Effects - excellent |

| Saving Private Ryan - R |
GOD! Could not stop crying during the film; I have never been affected by a movie the way Saving Private Ryan affected me. It was like an effective music. Think that this movie did not win Best Picture is a crime. Director Steven Spielberg uses all of his talent and resources to give to the world the greatest war film ever made. |

| Revenge - R | Revenge'(1990) Hot shot fighter pilot(Kevin Costner) leaves the service and heads to Mexico for a little fun and sun and stays at the home of an old friend, who just happens to be a ruthless drug lord (played by the legendary Anthony Quinn). Costner falls for Quinns younger, knock out wife,( the gorgeous Madeleine Stowe) and the two end up making love and that turns out to be a decision they will both regret once Quinn learns of it. Not a bad movie,Costner is wooden as always, but he and Stowe are easy to look at. However ,the pace could be better and the "revenge" part of the film is a little tough to endure. Violent film with a truly sad ending. | August 3, 2007 | N/A | |||
| American Beauty - R | "American Beauty" is about real life, about dysfunctional families who don't realize why they are crazy. Until Lester (Kevin Spacey) figures it out. Quits his job, quits pretending he is something he is not, and learns to really begin to deal with life. There are lots of laughs, but also lots of drama. the film was released in 1999, the same year as David Fincher's brilliant "Fight Club". Both films explore similar themes of mortality, identity, and the male psyche. However Fincher's film played these themes within the context of a far darker canvas, and was therefore given a cold shoulder in its initial release. Given the tastes of mainstream America, the fact that a dark satire in the vein of "American Beauty" would be embraced enough to win a best picture Oscar is impressive. Thematic nature aside, pitting "American Beauty" against "Fight Club" would steadily become an apple versus oranges scenario. So it should be fair to state that both are similarly themed significant works of art and "American Beauty" was given the opportunity to win several well-deserved awards, including an Oscar for first-time director Sam Mendes and first-time screenwriter Alan Ball. | August 3, 2007 | N/A | |||
| The Magdalene Sisters - R | This film will move you that is for sure. It is amazing to think such atrocities went on in the name of God. Well I guess it isn't really but this film lets you experience the single mindedness and hypocrisies of people who hold such fanatical beliefs | August 3, 2007 | N/A |
