| Monsters vs. Aliens - PG | Great 3D, the kids got a few laughs but the movie is HOLLOW. It felt extremely short as well. Even my 6 year old felt a little ripped off by this. This high concept marketing brilliance holds no water and sadly leaves you feeling like you just watched a cheesy cartoon from the 70s. This is such a cool COULDA-BEEN/SHOULDA-BEEN but it is simply a massive waste of time and cash. | March 27, 2009 | N/A | |||
| What Just Happened? - R | So.. you want to be a big shot in Hollywood. Well.. enjoy that. Check the flick. | March 17, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Heidi - G | Love this classic. Saw it many times as a child. Still great even today. Love jean Hersholt as the "grandfather". The scene where Heidi helps the sickly girl walks can make a grown man cry. | March 15, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Watchmen - R | RORSCHACH!! RORSCHACH!! RORSCHACH!! | March 9, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Rendition - R |
I was dumb founded at how off the charts HAMMY this was. Full of "hostage" cliche goodness. Reese Witherspoon was so amazingly awful in the movie that she certainly almost entered MOVIE JAIL for this turd alone. Remember the "Hostage returns home" scene where, Cab pulls up to the home (of course they wouldnt have met him at the Airport right?), Son is playing with ball in yard.. long stares with deadpan emotion, longing stares commence and continue, Wife walks out of house with newly born baby in arms to join in the cavalcade of long, emotion-less stares... not a single tear on said Wife's face. Until they slowly, like Zombies, move in to each others arms.
Im not kidding you I was LAUGHING OUT LOUD!!! Gavin Hood shouldnt be directing traffic. RENDITION, had I seen it in the year it was released, would have easily been on my WORST of list. "Wheres my HUSBAND?? Just tell me hes OK" - LOL!!! Witherspoon FULLY LOADED! OH, And Jake Gyllenhal.?? He looks stoned the entire film. When did , EMPTY EMOTIONLESS face = acting?? Because in this movie its the ONLY direction I imagine these people are getting. OHHH and you'll love the little Time structure twist that brightens up the whole movie. For lack of a better word RETARDED is the only thing that suffices, I honestly could not role my eyes up into the back of my head harder. AND finally.. lets remember ONE thing... WE (The United States) are the REAL Terrorists... not THE TERRORISTS. Thanks Hollywood. Losers. |

| The Foot Fist Way - R | OUSTANDING!!! Absolutely Hillarious. Danny McBride is a raging bad-ass. His Fred Simmons Tae-Kwon-Do Master is King of the Losers but he has the heart to battle against his failing life. Betrayed by his Wife and the "Hero of his Life", in the end he proves he is the Champion that he always reminds you that he is. LOVED IT !! | March 5, 2009 | N/A | |||
| War, Inc. - R | Hillary Duff = RAGING HOT!! Beyond that this film is a decent black comedy thats trying to offer a message about Capitalism in war and such, blah blah. While it's funny at times it is never able to be taken seriously. There sometimes feels to be giant jumps in scenes that dont make sense. Overall its kind of a mess with no real focus.. is it an Anti-War statement? Anti-Capitalism? Character Sketch? I can never get enough of Marissa Tomei or Hillary Duff so that was a plus. Middle of the road stuff here. MEH. | February 27, 2009 | N/A | |||
| An American Carol - PG-13 | Bwaaahaha.. Michael Moore bashing is such fun!! It was amazing just how many times the Michael Moore character was beaten up, stepped on, had stuff thrown at him. It was damn funny and satisfying. Sadly, the movie itself is pretty damn awful. Lame jokes, weak production values, bad acting.... yea...not good. So while laughing and enjoying the spanking at the expense of Liberals everywhere I still had to hold my nose. | February 26, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Day the Earth Stood Still - PG-13 | Oh man did this ever blow Donkey Balls. No suprise at all really as Hollywood pisses on a classic for it's branded attempt to steal cash from idiot teenagers on a Friday night. This was just so bad, especially with its retarded Military and slap you in the head Enviromental message. NO THANKS. What an embarressment. | February 21, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Milk - R | Fantastic performance by Penn in a moving bio pic. I don't have to agree with a particular agenda to know that prejudice is wrong. This film shows the true story but also addresses the issue of predujice. We live in a very different day now from when this film takes place, a world that was helped shaped by these events. Wether or not that is good or bad is a matter of perspective, but no one benefits from predujice that impeades basic human rights to be live a free life as you choose. I wish the story of Dan White had been fleshed out a little more as it felt tacked on at the end. | February 15, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Reader - R | This film brings so many issues, not just about the Holocaust but about a people's reaction to their part in it. How can those involved ever possibly re-pay for the atrocities? powerful and yet demanding issues. Amazing performance her for Winslet. I couldnt shake this film for awhile and it still haunts me when I consider all the issues. Is it even possible to have sympothy for those who participated in attempted genocide? My brain fries. | February 15, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - PG-13 | Some had said that the film was very similar to FORREST GUMP, but upon seeing it I was shocked at truly how similar it felt in structure and with many characters. Theres Momma, Lt. Dan, Bubba, Jenny and even Lil Forrest. WTF?? Did Fincher miss this, especially considering that the writer was responsible for both scripts? Beyond that I can say a few good things.. Amazing (but not yet seemless) FX, beautiful score and great acting. On a technical level the film is flawless..but when reaching deeper it felt like a manipulation, like "and cue tears from audience". While I appreciate the sentiment in the film and a great performance from Pitt, I am rather lost as to my overall feelings on this, but I definately feel a sense of dissapointment. | February 13, 2009 | N/A | |||

I love revenge done right and Liam Neeson is just a raging BAD ASS!! Of course from the Director of District B13 doesnt hurt either !! This is Mel Gibson calibur revenge machismo male fantasy and it works. I hate daughter stealing Albanian punks.. and so does Liam. BOOM!!! to dome. |

| Vicky Cristina Barcelona - PG-13 | WOW, did I ever HATE this movie. Hate is too kind of a word. I loathed every single person in this thing. I am in no way attracted to the "Bohemian" lifestyle and people who do nothing but go to Art shows, smoke cigarettes and drink wine all day. They seem like people from Jupiter or soemthing. I am too pedestrian, too Joe Wal-Mart to be concerned with "art" and "poetry" and haning out in cafe's in Spain. Does anyone actually work there? GIMME A FRIGGIN BREAK. Maybe its a good movie, I dont know.. but me personally it was liking getting teeth pulled watching this crapfest unfold. | February 7, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Fireproof - PG | While I appreciate the sentiment of the film I still can't get behind this film like I did FACING THE GIANTS. the acting is still wonky, corny and not believable in anyway. Kirk Cameron comes of as a pussy whipped fool who must bow down and get bitch slapped by a cheating and selfish Wife to prove a kind of non-attainable unconditional love that really only God can display. Sure it is a worthy goal, but what happens 2 weeks later when the Husband makes a mistake and doesnt clean the whole damn house? Just add a little bit of realism to this and maybe it could at least aspire to more than just Sunday school for the Church at large. Its not that I don't respect what Sherwood Baptist Church has accomplished with their films, its just that I think they are mostly already preaching to the choir. | February 6, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Outlander - R | OUTLANDER steals about 5 different ideas from the genre film vault and mixes slowly adding in pinches Vikings, Spacemen and Aliens to build a lip smacking fun guilty pleasure of an action flick. You've seen this film before in Predator, Alien, Mad Max, The 13th Warrior, Conan and on and on.. but it still is able to add the separate parts into a great flick. It CRAVES a Basil Poledouris score rather than the mediocre score that it has. There's some pretty nifty SPFX in this as well. A well rounded kick ass time will be had if you like sci-fi/fantasy. | February 6, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Quarantine - R | This is BLAIR WITCH on steroids. A fierce and brutal close quarters zombie nightmare falls on these unlucky folks trapped inside an LA Apartment complex, unable to get out and being attacked from within. This film is just brutal to the extreme. Jennifer Carpenter (from DEXTER) does a pretty convincing job of being hysterical for almost the entire film. I loved that this was only told from a single POV camera, really making it feel more like events as they actually happened. The filmmakers did an amazing job of cutting at just the right moments as to keep the real time vibe moving. YES, I have had my fill of Zombie movies, but this takes the best of the genre and makes its visceral and in your face and as it could be happening to you. Te film isn't perfect, but with a wrnching final act it truly makes it mark on the genre. How the hell am I going to sleep tonight after this? | January 30, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist - PG-13 | JOHN HUGHES: THE NEXT GENERATION should eb the title of this sweet little film that pops with atmosphere in a one-night journey through the New York music scene. I have a complete crush on KAT DENNINGS. She's just gorgeous. Ari Graynor (as the drunk friend) has the best scene in the flick when she tries to beg a turkey sandwhich off a stranger. I literally replayed the scene like 4 times it was so funny. The constant music is appropriate and should be nice for fans of this type of stuff, but mostly it graited on my nerves. This film, of course, wasnt made for 40 year old dudes, so I give it some lee-way there. But overall I enjoyed it. | January 29, 2009 | N/A | |||
| W. - PG-13 | I was suprised that Stone presented GW in such a sympathetic light. Its definately not a hatchett job by any means. Brolin turns in a fantastic performance and really nails all of W.'s mannerisms and speech. The film derails when it stops being a bipoic and jams all the Iraq screw-ups down our throats in such a pat way that DID NOT occur in real life. It becomes silly when you realize this is just Stone and the writers trying to cover all their "points" about how and why the iraq war was a huge mistake. Overall it is still an interesting effort. | January 28, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Repo! The Genetic Opera - R | OK.. ummm.. thats a big NO THANKS for me. I guess I can see how a certain audience would like this but for me it was an extended chore to sit through. Terrible on all levels, again, to me. If this is your thing then.. enjoy. ick. | January 26, 2009 | N/A |
