| Happy Feet - PG | A decent movie for kids, with some great animation. The "musical numbers" were horrible, but the movie was a little too preachy for my taste. But kids will probably enjoy the penguins. | October 21, 2007 | N/A | |||
| We Own the Night - R | Very good story and great acting. I thought it was a little too slow of a pace; the movie seemed to drag on in places. Though predictable in spots, the story was engagin, and overall it was a great movie. | October 21, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Resident Evil: Extinction - R | If you go for the action (or Milla), then you'll be very pleased. The action sequences were good, and Alice (Milla Jovovich) is kickass with knives. Unfortunately, don't expect much closure to the series. Don't know if they'll make a fourth, but they definitely left it open. Worth the watch if you're a fan of the series, or Milla, or just want a senseless over-the-top action flick. | October 16, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Iron Man - PG-13 | October 11, 2007 | N/A | ||||
| Deja Vu - PG-13 | Time travel is always a difficult venture to portray in movies. I thought they did a really good job and for the most part stuck to the conventions and "rules" of time travel, but the movie could have been a little stronger if they stuck to those "rules" 100% in the end. The premise is of course a bit unbelievable, but the production value and effects were done really well, and they even discussed the science of it to try and make you believe. Denzel was of course brilliant as always. | October 7, 2007 | N/A | |||
| The Kingdom - R | The most powerful and provocative movie of the year. The opening 10 minutes alone was one of the most gripping scenes I've seen in a movie in a long time, and the intensity and brutality didn't end there. This is more than just a mere action flick though; this movie is a compelling look at terrorism and its impact on society. This is definitely not a movie for everyone, and that's a shame because everyone could learn a little something from this movie. But the subject matter may hit a little too close to home for some people, and others may find some scenes a bit too violent and bloody. But if you can stomach all that, you're in for a real treat. A+ | October 2, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Good Luck Chuck - R | This movie had a ton of laugh-out-loud moments. In fact, if I had one complaint, it was that there people were laughing too loud at times that I couldn't hear some lines. The movie was definitely over-the-top and had a lot of "disturbing" moments, but overall it made me laugh, and that's what counts in a comedy. Dane Cook was of course fantastic. And Jessica Alba was of course as hot and adorable as ever. If her hotness wasn't enough to push this movie into 5-star territory, then the final scene during the closing credits was! | September 25, 2007 | N/A | |||
| The Dark Knight - PG-13 | September 18, 2007 | N/A | ||||
| Death Sentence - R | This movie was a lot grittier and violent than I expected. At times it got a bit ridiculous, but overall it was a great, intense action flick. But tucked inside this violent tale of revenge was a serious moral quandary; just how far would you go to seek revenge for a lost loved one? I'm sure most people who had a loved one killed wanted to take matters into their own hands at one point, and this movie begs the question...in the end, is it really all worth it? | September 18, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Superbad - R | This is a much funnier and dirtier version of high school than I remember. I didn't think it would be able to stack up to Knocked Up, but I was pleasantly suprised. There were a lot of laugh-out-loud moments, and the actors did a great job. The best part was clearly the "drawings". If you haven't seen this yet, go do so now! | August 28, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Rescue Dawn - PG-13 | Good story, and great acting, especially by Bale. The movie has a very old school look to it and slow pacing, both of which help portray a sense of realism. If you're looking for an action flick, this is not it, but if you want a more serious flick than the "summer blockbusters", it's worth the watch. | August 21, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Stardust - PG-13 |
In a day where most movies are predictable and ordinary, Stardust truly shines (pun intended). To call this movie creative and imaginative would be a gross understatement. Definitely one of the weirdest, craziest movies I've ever seen...in a good way. The plot was fantastic with superbly done intertwined storylines and good twists along the way. The performances were also top notch across the board. If you're looking for a truly entertaining movie and something a little "different," Stardust will deliver. |

| Underdog - PG | August 13, 2007 | N/A | ||||
| The Bourne Ultimatum - PG-13 | From the opening sequence to the very end, the final chapter in the Bourne trilogy certainly does not disappoint. The movie was essentially non-stop action the whole time, yet was still somehow able to tell a compelling story along the way. You must see the previous movies or read the books if you want to have any chance at understanding what's going on...and if you have, this is a MUST SEE. It wraps up the trilogy in perfect fashion. I couldn't have asked for a better finish. | August 11, 2007 | N/A | |||
| The Simpsons Movie - PG-13 |
The most disappointing part of the movie was how short it was; at a mere 75 minutes, it basically amounts to 3.5 episodes in a row. Most of the 75 minutes was great though, and in true Simpsons fashion, the movie poked fun of itself, politics, pop culture, etc etc. The writers didn't stray far from the television show, which is both a good and bad thing...though mostly good. There were several genuinely funny moments, and some not-so funny moments, but overall, I recommend this to any Simpsons fan (duh!) and anyone looking for a nice light-hearted, semi-family comedy. PS: And the Oscar for Best Song goes to...SPIDER-PIG! |

| The Last Kiss - R | Overall a decent movie with some good lessons about life and relationships. The acting in this movie was good, but too many characters were underdeveloped. It was never clear what Rachel Bilson's character's attraction to Zach Braff's character was, and it just didn't seem grounded in reality. Nevertheless, in the end the story shines. The story is really about the moral ambiguities in life, and to that end, the movie succeeds. | August 4, 2007 | N/A | |||
| Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - PG-13 | First off, I don't read the books, I just see the movies. As such, I can't comment on how true it sticks to the story, but I thought the story was good and the FX were of course fantastic. As has been stated numerous times, this is much darker than any of the previous Potters, and thus I think this movie appeals to the older folks more than previous ones. But if you didn't see the previous movies, or at least the third one, I think you'll be rather lost. It's clear they expect you to have read the books and/or seen the previous movies. | August 1, 2007 | N/A | |||

| Live Free or Die Hard - PG-13 | A simple phrase sums it up: Yippie-kay-yay motherfucker! Bruce Willis is back as John McClane and as badass as he was nearly 20 years ago. Almost non-stop action with good special effects that weren't too over-the-top. The chase scene with the F35 is an instant classic (and yes, people, that plane can actually hover like that). Overall, a must-see for any Die Hard fan and/or Willis fan! | July 17, 2007 | N/A | |||
