| Repo! The Genetic Opera - R | I will admit, I'm not too fond of musical movie but this makes an acception. This is pretty much a sci-fi gothic musical with a twist. I only recommend this if you're into this type of stuff and don't mind listening to the cast singing (and i wil admit, Paris Hilton is pretty good though she doesn't sing so often in the movie) but the theme is amazing and i like it in certain parts how it suddenly changes to a comic format. I can't think of anything else (cause i'm feeling tired) but i still find it dark and great and still surprised that this is done by the same people who did Saw | October 8, 2009 | N/A | |||
| District 9 - R |
I found this movie amazing and it's been a while since i had a movie in partyicular stuck in my head for days after watching it. I liked the idea on how part of it was created as a Doctumentary while the rest was like a proper movie. I love the originality of this, especially with it filmed in Africa which is probably the least likely place you'd find aliens coming to and when you think of the discrimination with the aliens is like how people discriminate other people by their appearance and what they believe in. I will also like to add that although I've seen this a few times before i do like it that at first the main character is this happy, dorky type of guy but when things start to happen to him, he gets more serious and a bit agressive (not that i blame him).
Once again i was very impressed and was on the edge of my seat each time i knew something would happen - the main character was great, the prawn aliens were amazing, the Afircan citizens were brilliant and the scientists and soldiers... were assholes but they were still cool. |

| Coraline - PG | From the works of Neil Gaiman and Henry Selick i was very impressed after seeing this. I was very amazed by how the stop- motion animation and i do wish there were more because it's very similar to pretty much CGI or even drawn animation since a lot of work has been put into it. I found the voices suited each character well and i did like hearing Ian McShane in a Russian accent (laughs). I find this very similar to Tim burton's Nightmare Before Christmas because it has that feeling that although it's creepy you still enjoy it and i do hope it's still remembered when years go by. | September 12, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Wrong Turn 2: Dead End - Unrated | In my own opinion, the idea and concept for this was better in my head, probably because i was expecting something more similar to the original- mutated appearance wise. But i will admit the idea to it is pretty cool though i wish there could've been more to it. wonder if there would be another sequal and see how that goes | August 6, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Hills Have Eyes II (The Hills Have Eyes 2) - R | this was pretty cool as a sequal- i got a bit of a thrill as i watched it and like the first i do not want to mess with any of those mutants especially the huncho, Hades. I remember reading about the original second movie and how the son is back in the same scenario two years later. This time, i was surprised he's not in it (though i kept expecting one of them to be him cause he looked so similar) and the story takes on brand new characters, and new ways for things to be done. Hope to see the third one come out soon, especially with again, new mutants. | August 6, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Akira - R | If you haven't seen this movie i'd advise you too! It's one of the very few animes that people recognise well and being a sci-fi person i would recommend it | August 6, 2009 | N/A | |||

| The Shawshank Redemption - R |
Shawshank Redemption is a very well made movie and that's not a surprise, especially when it's based on a short story by one of the well known authors, Stephen King. I don't watch alot of prisoner stories but this is an exception - especially with a twist so surprsing you'd watch it again to pin point some of the moments you would've overlooked.
what makes the story brilliantly done is the friendship between the prisoners, the characters you get attached to and well remembered whether it's the prisoners that you hope will gain freedom or the guards that are sadistic and powered crazy you'd think twice before encountering them and how time passes upon the twenty years seen in the jail. this is a recommendation for anyone who would like to stay home and interested in watching a powerful movie like this. |

| War of the Worlds - PG-13 |
like most movies, the book is always better when comparing movies whether it's because of how the story is protrayed or when things have been added or taken away, even edited to make it more suitable. With this, the reason why the book is better would be because of what has been added.
In the book, the main character is a writer who - while the aliens attacked- was looking for his wife, in this modern age movie it is similar but what has been added is that he's divorced and has two kids and it makes you wonder why that has been added in the movie? the highlight of this movie are the ships and the aliens themselves which are similar to the books but with another brand new style to add in this series and having added the beams that turn cilivians into oblivion whenever they are shot at. It's a worthy idea that they chose to make the setting to modern day that we live in but there is another remake of this well known story- i wouldn't mind seeing it in the original late 1800s to early 1900s setting |

| Eight Legged Freaks - PG-13 | i was around 11 when this movie came out in cinemas and having anachniphobia- i thought this would be really scary for me. But now, I find it really funny and i can't believe how silly it was of me to think this was a horror movie. It's so rare now to see movies today that have gigantic monsters attacking and i do hope there will be more in the near future (not counting the spaceship of aliens). | July 31, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Superhero Movie - PG-13 |
This movie is more of one of those movies where the trailer looks alot better than the film itself and i still can't believe i wasted an hour and a half of my life watching this movie when i should've known better.
The only reason why i give it two stars is because of these scene; the spinning camera with the Dragonfly and Hourglass, the nail-gun moment and finding out the newspaper agency is next to an asylum. the movie itself is pretty predictable when comparing it to the others: the continuous swearing, the awkward sexual and toilet jokes, the bad jokes with very little good ones, having a somewhat romantic scene and the last but not least the final moment with someone getting hit by a moving object- this time being a helicopter Unfortunately this is mainly a Spider-man parody because you only see one scene of the other superheroes which is very pointless. only recommended for those who like this typical humour |

| Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl - PG-13 | July 21, 2009 | N/A | ||||
| Thirteen Ghosts (13 Ghosts) - R | For a ghost movie, this one has it points. only seeing in my younger teen years, what impressed me about this was; Few of the ghosts that make you want to help half of them while the others you never want to be near in a dark place, the characters that make you want to know who gets out alive and the twist that may surprise you or not. I'd recommend this as a Friday night movie | July 21, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Sin City - R | This one was probably one of the few that everyone wanted to see while it was in cinemas. Its noir style and using the comics idea of black and white with the tint of colour makes it completely original and with an excellent choice of cast, no one seems left out of this dark comic based movie | July 21, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Flushed Away - PG | it's weird to see Aardman go from their traditional clay animation to digital computer but this makes an acception. the jokes to it are brilliant and i don't think i've seen a chase scene that went to well with Dandy Warhols "Bohemian Like You" definitly a recommendation | July 21, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Princess - Unrated |
compared to both foreign and animated movies that i've seen this one i just thought "wow" too. The story to it is dark and it seems odd to put pornography, revenge and family into the same mixture, not that Princess didn't do a bad job to it.
One of the high lights to this movie will be that although this is in animation, the photos, video recoding and the ending to this is actually live action which gives it that originality to it this type of movie is only for those who love those revenge type tales |
